Happy Provider Appreciation Day to all my wonderful fellow Providers. You are all beyond amazing

Don’t know who wrote it, but it’s spot on. Perspective: WE ARE NOT IN THE SAME BOAT ...... I heard that we are all in the same boat, but it's not like that. We are in the same storm, but not in the same boat. Your ship could be shipwrecked and mine might not be. Or vice versa. For some, quarantine is optimal. A moment of reflection, of re-connection, easy in flip flops, with a cocktail or coffee. For others, this is a desperate financial & family crisis. For some that live alone they're facing endless loneliness. While for others it is peace, rest & time with their mother, father, sons & daughters. With the $600 weekly increase in unemployment some are bringing in more money to their households than they were working. Others are working more hours for less money due to pay cuts or loss in sales. Some families of 4 just received $3400 from the stimulus while other families of 4 saw $0. Some were concerned about getting a certain candy for Easter while others were concerned if there would be enough bread, milk and eggs for the weekend. Some want to go back to work because they don't qualify for unemployment and are running out of money. Others want to kill those who break the quarantine. Some are home spending 2-3 hours/day helping their child with online schooling while others are spending 2-3 hours/day to educate their children on top of a 10-12 hour workday. Some have experienced the near death of the virus, some have already lost someone from it and some are not sure if their loved ones are going to make it. Others don't believe this is a big deal. Some have faith in God and expect miracles during this 2020. Others say the worst is yet to come. So, friends, we are not in the same boat. We are going through a time when our perceptions and needs are completely different. Each of us will emerge, in our own way, from this storm. It is very important to see beyond what is seen at first glance. Not just looking, actually seeing. We are all on different ships during this storm experiencing a very different journey. I’m a nurse who is deployed to NYC for the COVID-19 Pandemic. We have 1000 nurses staying at our hotel, who are working the front lines for the city. (there are at least 5 other hotels FULL of nurses) Lets put a smile on our nurses faces and lift them up, during this extremely challenging time. You definitely don’t have to spend money to contribute, and anything is greatly appreciated, especially your thoughts and prayers. Here are some ideas for you...... Thank you cards, have the kids draw or paint pictures (homeschool atr class), letters of encouragement, etc. Donation suggestions: nonperishable snacks, sweet or salty, pudding cups, individual trail mix packets, granola bars, protein bars, beef jerky, protein drink mixes, Starbucks drinks, surgical caps - if you can so that’s amazing, cloth masks, 95 masks, any kind of cleaning supplies, Lysol or Clorox wipes, small bottles of dish soap to clean our dishes, buttons and a little sewing kits to be able to sew buttons on our hats and headbands so that our ears don’t get irritated,small bottles of hand sanitizer, Toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, Chapstick, lotion, Ziploc bags of any size, Trashbags, packing or duct tape, plastic utensils, Tylenol, Motrin, flavor packets for water, etc. Please address to me as listed below, and I will distribute to our 1000 nurses. March 27, 2020: Local Emergency Order - Pursuant to Section 24 of New York State Executive Law, attached is a renewal of Mayor Izzo’s Local Emergency Order for... the City of Rome. All restrictions that were issued in previous orders are still in effect. The attached order adds that City of Rome basketball courts, tennis courts, soccer fields, baseball fields, playground equipment and skate park shall not be used by the public.

Childcare is Essential

Take today and the next few weeks to get mad respect for your essential workers and your child care providers. And I want to say, I hope this brings the value o...f childcare providers to the front of people's minds. As parents go crazy with their kids home for weeks and wonder who can do this everyday? Childcare providers Who will make sure the essential staff can still go to work and keep us healthy? Childcare providers Who is putting themselves around rooms full of kids who cannot yet blow their own noses and cover their coughs? Childcare providers Who is taking so many school age children in when it is deemed too dangerous for school age kids to be together at their own schools? Childcare Providers And who is doing all this at RIDICULOUSLY lower wages then regular elementary school teachers? CHILDCARE PROVIDERS.
