In celebration of Black History Month (BHM), we reflect on the many notable contributions made by many African-Americans throughout American history. Black history is American history and vice-versa. Dr. Martin Luther King challenged our people and our country to envision (dream) with him of a time within our nation where slavery and hatred is replaced by freedom and equality for all people. This challenge was predicated on the belief that there remained a much brighter futur...e than what we experienced in our past, as a people and as a nation. Dr. King's faith was the beacon of light and hope that energized him into actively pursuing and enlisting others in the pursuit of the "Dream". Let's not get it twisted, Dr. King stated that if this dream was going to be fulfilled, it was going to take all of us coming together to fight the ills of our nation, together. Although it may seem that we are facing a tumultuous time within our nation, still filled with hatred, discrimination, and segregation, Dr. King's words still ring true. Let's keep the dream alive. Let's keep the hope alive. Let's continue to push for equality and justice for all. Philippians 3:13-14 says, "Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the high call of God in Christ Jesus." I believe our high calling is still attainable, for our people and our nation. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere!

As we finish up day 3 of the Daniel Fast 2017, I would like to remind those of us why we are on this journey. For some, 2016 was a year filled with unexpected challenges, which took on various forms. 2017 presents us the opportunity to leave behind those challenges and journey into the newness awaiting us. Of course, we all desire to be more healthy, wealthy, and happy which I sincerely believe is God's desire for the life of my wife and me and family, but again it requires humility and sacrifice. Exodus 33:15, "Then Moses said to him, "If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here." More than all the promised possessions gained this year, the main reason we are on this journey is Him. So, like my man Moses, Lord if you don't go with me, don't send me."

As we finish up day 2 of the Daniel Fast 2017, I am drawn to one of the iconic persons within Scripture, Moses. Numbers 12:3 (Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.) Always as a young boy, Moses was and always will be one of my Heroes. Oh, how much I wanted to be like him. The Bible says he was "very humble". Please don't mistake one's meekness for weakness. Humility can be identified within every historical account in the Bible, where God uses someone to perform the miraculous. As the Lord revives us, let's humble ourselves so that we may see the miraculous.

As we finish up day 1 of the Daniel Fast 2017, it's all about humility. If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land 2 Chronicles 7:14. I read something today that said, Old ways won't open New doors. During this fast let's commit all old ways, as we ask the Lord to revive us, but let us also be open for the new ways that will open new doors that God has for us in 2017.

Sun Morning, an inspirational word from the Lord. In the natural we often times, with major purchases are required to place a down payment to secure those items. We were challenged in the Spiritual to offer up a down payment of Praise to secure the hope of our future and all that comes with it. What about some of you, give Him a down payment of Praise!
