Please join us in welcoming the 2021 cohort of High Line Teens! The program is a paid opportunity for young people to acquire work and life skills. By focusing on the power of their individual voices as well as working as a collective the youth-driven program gives them the autonomy to work through real-world projects. We have 20 teens joining us this year, the majority of whom live or attend school near the High Line. Visit https://bit.ly/3cEKtlR to learn more. Photography ...by Ramón Martinez #HighLineTeens

#SpringCutback 2021 is a wrap! Though many gardens cut back their plants in fall, we leave our displays of dried leaves, stalks, and seedheads up through the winter for their beauty and for the habitat they provide for birds and other animals. Each March, our horticulture team completes the massive task of cutting back all the perennials in the park by hand as part of Spring Cutback. Special thanks to TD Bank, the Presenting Green Sponsor of the High Line, for their support.... : Rowa Lee

Lemonade on the High Line? The brightly-colored staghorn sumac produces clusters of red fruits that regional birds lovewhich also make a tasty lemonade-type drink when seeped in water. Its fall foliage colors range from vivid yellow to fire engine red. Staghorn sumac can be found on both the Diller- von Furstenberg Sundeck & Water Feature and the Hudson River Overlook, between 14th and 15th Streets. As they prep for their October 24 youth activism-focused virtual program, Believe in You(th), we asked our teen staff what fuels their desires to march, speak up, protest, and actively work toward creating a better world. This is a selection of their responses. Learn more about their upcoming program & RSVP via https://bit.ly/3j0teex. Believe in You(th) is a virtual exploration of social justice & liberation ideals through music, art making, & activism and you’ll see what it means to be a part of the High Line teen staff. Congratulations to artist Simone Leigh on being selected to represent the United States at the Venice Biennale in 2022, a historic appointment as the first Black woman to do so. We're proud to have her sculpture "Brick House" on the #HighLinePlinth, on view through Spring 2021. https://nyti.ms/3dsqK7R

Outdoor learning is active learning! Quest to Learn 6th graders are telling the story of the High Line through movement as part of the New York City Department of Education's Outdoor Learning Initiative, and students from The James Baldwin School are practicing scientific observation of plants in the High Line's Climate Art class. What can we infer about plants based on the way they look? What do plants contribute to our urban spaces? High Line Education is possible, in part, with public support from Speaker Corey Johnson and the New York City Council. Photography by Liz Ligon.

If you’re into butterfly-spotting, keep an eye on Raydon’s Favorite smooth aster during your next High Line visit! This colorful NYC native also features leaves that create a mint-like aroma when crushed. You can find it growing in the Gansevoort Woodlands between Gansevoort and Little West 12th Streets, the Hudson River Overlook between 14th and 15th Streets, and the Chelsea Grasslands, between 19th and 20th Streets. #HighLineGardens #HighLineHorticulture... : Ayinde Listhrop

Rooftop drag pool parties and floor-to-ceiling windows offering the best views of the city (both inside and out)... all this and more exists at The Standard, which has a reputation for being one of the most intriguing spots in the city, and the only hotel built over the High Line. Though hotels have been hit especially hard during the pandemic, Dana Ayers, the Director of Sales at The Standard is feeling confident because if there is one thing New Yorkers AND hotels are goo...d at, it’s adapting to change and finding creative solutions to problems. The Standard and the Meatpacking District will emerge from this with a new perspective and fresh ideas, which will embolden us all to live and work authentically in this new world we are navigating together. You can visit The Standard to enjoy outdoor dining and cocktails at The Plaza, Le Bain Rooftop, and the Biergarten. You can also take solace in one of their rooms for a weekend staycation. #ThrowbackThursday: Two years ago, thousands of visitors enjoyed the #MileLongOperaa sweeping free choral work that immersed audiences in the personal stories of hundreds of New Yorkers about life in our rapidly changing city. Co-produced by Diller Scofidio + Renfo and the High Line, the Mile-Long Opera was conceived by composer David Lang and architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro. Poets Anne Carson and Claudia Rankine wrote the text, inspired by real-life stories, gathered th...rough first-hand interviews with residents throughout the city, asking what 7pm means to them. In 2020, 7pm has a different meaning: the pan-banging and cheering from the spring may have slowed down, but we still celebrate all of our essential workers and share our thanks for their bravery, commitment, and humanity. What does 7pm mean to you? Photos by Liz Ligon and Timothy Schenck

Just steps from the High Line, you’ll find our friends at Three Owls Market, a specialty store that combines the best of a small-town prepared food shop with New York City delis. Founder and chef Suzanne Dumaine has always loved community-centric food spots where you know the selection of food and goods has been carefully designed and chosen, and the staff gets to know your name and your coffee order. Three Owls Market has only been open for a year and a half and had to qu...ickly adapt to the tides of the pandemic, but Dumaine is confident that the spirit of the city and neighborhood will keep her business going. I opened a business in NYC because despite the challenges of living and owning a business here, there's nowhere else in the world like it. We've loved seeing energy flow back into the neighborhood the past couple of weeks, and Three Owls will continue to adapt and change to meet the needs of our customers from both near and far. We're committed to being here for the long term. As for NYC, we're an extraordinarily resilient city of fiercely loyal peoplewe'll get through this and then some. If you’re ever out for a stroll in the neighborhood, be sure to pay Three Owls Market a visit at 800 Washington Street, on the corner of Horatio Street.
