This have been an unprecedent year of great challenges and yet through it all we are grateful for your support.
Since our launch a few months ago, Safe From Hate has distributed nearly 2000 alarms to people in the tri-state area to help them feel more secure during these ...uneasy times. Alarms have been given away to the elderly, survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, healthcare and home health workers, home attendants, immigrant working parents, and essential workers of nonprofit organizations. Shortly, we will ship alarms out to the vulnerable in San Francisco. And due to demand, we have another shipment of alarms on the way! Thanks again to our donors and to Chinese-American Planning Council, Homecrest Community Services, Inc., Korean American Family Service Center - KAFSC, Garden of Hope, Lena Chang and Tom Pang for your partnership! Love the pics that keep coming in!
We wish you and your loved ones a #happy and #healthy #holiday season! #tistheseason #love #family #merrychristmas
We are happy to donate 150 alarms to senior citizens at Homecrest Community Services, Inc. in Brooklyn. This past July, one of their seniors was attacked by two... kids, who poured accelerant on her which set her shirt on fire. This woman was merely out trying to get some fresh air. We hope that these seniors, who may be feeling frightened after hearing about this heinous crime, will feel more secure as they go about their day. Thanks to Executive Director Karen Zhou for helping us distribute the alarms! And thanks to Hope Rita Chan for helping us translate our instructions into Chinese.

We condemn this recent act of violence on one of our seniors and hope that the two suspects will be caught. Please call NYPD if you have any information. #respectourelders #stoptheviolence #hateisavirus https://nypost.com//elderly-woman-says-she-was-slapped-se/
AAF Condemns the bias attack on an 89-year-old Asian Woman in Brooklyn The horrific and hateful attack on an 89-year-old Asian woman in Brooklyn by two men who ...slapped her and then lit her shirt on fire is an outrage which should shock all New Yorkers. As a leadership organization, the Asian American Federation (AAF) condemns the persistent hate crimes against Asian Americans in our city and calls for strong action by elected leaders, the authorities, and community leaders to safeguard our vulnerable communities, including meaningful investment in community education and developing in-language safety resources. Since the beginning of the pandemic in January, AAF has been organizing a coordinated response to the surge in violence by creating a hate crimes reporting tool in seven Asian languages and working with community partners to provide safety trainings and resources to the Asian community. Our hearts go out to this vulnerable senior and her family, and we urge New Yorkers of all races to stand in solidarity with us by standing up for those being targeted. We must join hands in fighting the virus, not the people. We also thank Homecrest Community Services, Inc. and its leadership for supporting this senior, and ensuring that she receive the service she needs to recover. Every year, Project by Project selects a non-profit partner based on a theme or issue that addresses current needs in the Asian American community. The theme fo...r 2020, Civic & Political Empowerment, directly aligns with our members greatest passion. Project by Project New York is also pleased to present this year’s beneficiary partner - Homecrest Community Services (HCS). HCS was established over 20 years ago as a grassroots initiative by community advocates and residents of Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn and has expanded to other neighborhoods in Brooklyn where there are pockets of growing underserved Asian immigrant populations. HCS aims to provide social and health services, and access to resources and other essential services to Chinese immigrants and seniors. Over time, HCS has built a trusted relationship with the Asian immigrant and elderly community and has inspired its constituents to partake in civic engagement. See more

We want to share a very important message from Nancy, a community member at Homecrest Community Services, Inc. Translation: My father and grandfather immigrated... to US over a hundred years ago. They did not speak English. They worked in a hand laundry and toiled for long hours--day in and day out. It was hard work. I came to the US sixty years ago. I got married and had five children. My husband worked in a restaurant and I worked in a garment factory. It was also hard work. Luckily, my children understood how hard life was for their father and mother, grandparents and earlier generations who did not speak English, so my children studied hard in school. Everyone including my children and grandchildren have successful jobs, a happy family and life is stable. I am proud of my family and having good health. In America, we must and go out to vote, let our voices be heard. It is our responsibility to contribute and give back to the community, I encourage my children to do the same. #asianamerican #APAHM #AAPI #apa #diversity #culture #asians #apahm #immigration #asianamericanheritage #NYC #virtualevents #vote #voteaapi #aapivote
Yue Ai is a community member at @Homecrest Community Services, Inc.. This video was recorded last month but the message is more important than ever. Primary ele...ctions in NYC are coming up. You can vote early. You can vote at home. You can vote on June 23rd. Translation: May is Asian American Heritage Month. In America, there are lot of Chinese American and Asian Americans that have lived here for a long time ago. Back then it was hard and we didn’t have a lot of rights but now Asian Americans can be elected into the City Council, State Assembly and Congress like Grace Meng. They can be our voice for the Chinese American community and that’s what makes the Chinese American community proud. I hope that more Chinese Americans who can vote can actively come out to vote! #asianamerican #APAHM #AAPI #apa #diversity #culture #asians #apahm #apaeverywhere #asianamericanheritage #NYC #elections2020 #aapivote #vote
