Great people are just great people ! My pal @fahey1928 reached out to me and asked how he and good friend Brian Riano could help provide meals to first responders and all the folks working so hard on the front lines. They both committed to buying 300 plus meals EVERY week over the next few months to make sure the first responders were taken care of. An amazing act of kindness ! This week we celebrate @fatkitty08 - our fearless leader and General Manager @hometownbarbque - Briana came to Hometown with NO FOH experience but what she did have was an incredible work ethic , a passion for learning and most important kindness. She also told us let us know if she got the job she couldn’t start for a few days because she had tickets to some important NY Rangers hockey games coming up ( ) Briana has come a long way over the years and is now responsible fo...r a large staff , thousands of loyal customers every week who depend on her for anything and everything and having to deal with very demanding owner () - Right now our Boss lady is home safe making sure she takes care of the little bambino in her belly . We look forward to seeing that little guy running around Hometown cheering on mom on all her accomplishments within the HT family when we are back to some sense of normalcy in our lives. After years of never wanting to open another Hometown because how close to my heart the Red Hook project was I was lucky to meet a couple great guys in Miami who are true visionaries. They owned a piece of land in an extremely industrial mainly Dominican neighborhood. The land included an outdoor wholesale market that sells Latino produce and Carribean spices and every bit of it reminded me of home. I’ll never forget my first day there driving up and immediately knowing I w...as in. There was even a train that crossed directly in front of our building as we got there and that sealed the deal. It was Brooklyn ! And although it looks and feels a lot different than our beloved Red Hook , the edgy industrial setting and the incredible community of people in Allapattah reminds me of home and the hard working folks who made Red Hook so special.
