Aren't we all looking forward to summertime? I know I am! Camp season is going to be EPIC this year, and will be held at our new farm located on the border of Gates/Spencerport. Email [email protected] to receive a registration form.
So..........something pretty huge happened today. I am now the proud (and mildly stressed) owner of a horse farm! I can't wait to start making memories here with all the horses and riding students. While plans are continuing to evolve, the transition to the new farm will take a little bit of time. And although I cannot wait to embark on this new phase of the business, recognition must be given to Kyanne Yost and Irish Rose Stables for providing a beautiful home for all of our horses and riders since spring of 2016. Stay tuned for updates!
Everyone did wonderful at the horse show today! I'm so proud
Who's that handsome devil? Meet the newest member of the lesson string! We'll just call him New Kid until we decide on a name.
OK, here’s the game plan: (feel free to text, call, or email if you have any questions) - All lessons need to be held outside, so we’ll all have to dress for it. If the weather is really awful, I’ll cancel lessons. -We aren’t allowed in any of the barns, so riders will be grooming and tacking up where the horse trailers are, back behind the middle barn. Parents should still park where they normally would. ... -All riders have to wear gloves. They don’t have to be the medical kind, regular riding gloves or knit gloves are fine. The riding equipment will be regularly disinfected. If in close proximity with others, masks are needed. -Social distancing should still be practiced, no large groups of visitors to watch lessons. Ideally, only one family member per rider at the farm. -There is a new Irish Rose waiver all parents have to sign. I have copies, or I can email it to you ahead of time. -Contact me if you want to be put back on the schedule. The schedule will be a little more limited than before, but I’m confident I can safely fit everyone on it. -As far as summer camp and horse shows go, it is still tentative. But I am remaining cautiously optimistic. All you kids need to hurry back to the farm soon, grooming 3 shedding and filthy horses, and then exercising them is a whole lot easier when I have you guys to help me.
Good news, lessons will be allowed starting tomorrow! Stay tuned for more information later today, because there are going to be a few changes to the schedule and overall way of doing things.
I hope everyone is doing well during this rough period. I can't wait for lessons to start up again! The horses however are each having their own unique reaction to the abrupt halt to lessons. Topaz is bored out of her mind. I actually caught her running and bucking around in her field the other day! Troy is convinced his lack of work is due to a well deserved and long overdue retirement, even though he's only 13. Andre's mindset hasn't changed that much, but I think he's wondering where all the treat-dispensing kiddos have gone.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT! Effective starting Sunday 3/22 at 8:00 PM, all lessons are canceled until further notice. This is due to the newest government mandate by New York State, which prohibits all riding activities. I have been dreading this day ever since this whole pandemic started, so these new laws were devastating to hear. Let's all cross our fingers that this will all be over soon, and we can get back to normal.... I am still collecting forms and deposits for Summer Camp. Gift certificates for lessons are also available. On a more positive note, Troy, Andre, and Topaz will get to enjoy the longest vacation they've probably ever had! I will do my best to keep everyone informed on any updates on the situation. Everyone try to stay healthy, safe, and sane!
Who would be interested in going trail riding at Mendon Ponds or Oatka Creek instead of a regular lesson? Brainstorming creative ways to stay afloat during the pandemic.
Attention! Important Announcements regarding Spring riding lessons: Due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak, there will be some changes in our lesson program. However, lessons will continue as planned for now. 1) All our lesson tack (Bridles, Saddles, Girths, Helmets, etc) will be disinfected after each use going forward. Hand sanitizer will also be readily available to anyone who wants it. 2) I ask that if riders are ill, or if someone in their household is ill, do not come to ...your lesson. 3) Only small groups of people will be allowed to watch each lesson. And we’ll all maintain safe distances from one another. 4) The horses and barn cats are completely safe from the virus. There are no shortages of feed or supplies at the farm, and they are blissfully unaware of our current situation. The goal for the foreseeable future is for everyone to stay safe and healthy, while continuing to provide a fun horseback riding experience for all my clients.
Registration is now underway for summer camp 2020!
Andre thinks it's pretty awesome when college kids like Emily come back to visit during winter break.
The East end of Brooks Rd will be closed for the next 4 months. To get to the farm from the east, just take Lehigh until you hit East River, then turn left at the light. It's a very short detour.

Last week's spring break camp was a success!
Me, trying to put the Fall lesson schedule together, when 50% of Summer riders request a time slot change, and the herd is split between 2 farms.
Last weekend Wyatt and Austin spent 4 days camping in the Adirondacks and exploring the Otter Creek Horse Trails. We rode a total of 34 miles, spending 10 hours on the trails, and these boys did awesome!
As of now, the Spring day camp is almost filled up, and Summer camp is 50% full. Let me know once you determine which session you want, so you don't miss out. Looking forward to having tons of fun in the sun with the horses!
Today was a very happy day at the farm! As some of you know, Topaz has been an integral member of our lesson horse team for the past 2 years. But we have actually been borrowing her under a lease agreement this whole time, not knowing for certain when she would have to leave us and return to her owner. But today, we officially ended this "leasers limbo" and are the official owner of this special little mare. Yay Topaz, you'll now have a home with us for life! Big thank you to Bonita for the opportunity to take her, and for trusting your horse with us.
Dreaming of trail rides, pony baths, and lessons under the summer sun.
Andre and Topaz are feeling wonderful after yesterday's chiro/massage appointment! Soon the rest of the herd will get the same star treatment.

Welcome home Troy! I have a feeling he's going to have his own fan club in no time. This 11 y/o Belgian/Paint cross is going to be a fantastic addition to the Horizon family. And, overly-friendly Austin just HAD to introduce himself last night.
Lesson horse line up: (left to right) Topaz, Willow, Storm, Randy, Wyatt, Diva, and Andre.
On Tuesdays we wear glitter. #horsecamp #glitternails
Colleen will be out of town from 6/29-7/8. No lessons during that time (unless otherwise specified)
Topaz had some fun today in the cross country field. She thought the jumps should've been higher. #ibeleiveicanfly
Topaz wants everyone to spread the word about horse camp (because more campers = more horse cookies)! We have 2 weeks that still have room for additional campers: the weeks of July 16th, and August 13th.

While doing some much needed spring cleaning/organizing, I came across this gem, circa 2006 I think?? A photo taken of 16 yr old me at a super small dressage show in Genesee Co. with Gil. And oh boy, how clueless was I?? Stirrups WAY too short, in a borrowed synthetic saddle (don't even get me started on my Eq ), the highlight that day was probably getting a couple 7's, and being able to memorize my tests. But seeing how sharp Gilley looked back then, brought back LOTS of memories. There's nothing like seeing where you've come from (and remembering the horses that carried you) to help fuel you moving forward.

Farewell Cello! He finally made the trip to Massachusetts over the weekend to be reunited with his mom. We had lots of fun with him over the past 3 months, and he will be missed. Thank you Susan Rhodes for letting us play with him this fall.
Today was a LONG but super fun day! I am very proud of all our horses and riders who showed today at the Brockport Equestrian fundraising show. Every rider earned some great ribbons, and demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship. Topaz and Andre were perfect as usual. I am one very happy trainer!
Oh boy, Summer seemed like it flew by too quickly this year! Between camp, lessons, and local shows, we couldn't have been any busier. Horse Camp was a huge success this year! Every single week was filled, and everybody had lots of fun. Now as summer draws to a close, the Fall lesson schedule is also quickly filling up. Spots are extremely limited.

Yesterday was a very exciting day for our riders and horses! Three of our horses and 5 of our riders participated in our first horse show of the season. Everybody rode well, learned a lot, got some good ribbons, and had positive attitudes throughout the day despite the heat. We also had tremendous support from friends, family members, fellow students and fellow boarders who showed up to lend a hand and cheer us on. I am very proud! photo credits to Rae Lombino

It's almost ready!!!
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved horse, Gilley. The partnership I had with him was more than a decade long, and he will be greatly missed by not only me, but the countless other people who got to know, and enjoy him as a lesson horse over the past several years. He was a saint who was worth his weight in gold, and there will never be another horse like him. I would never have been able to start my business without him, and for that I feel very fortunate. I am forever grateful for the love and support I have received from my friends and family. I never, ever imagined that it would be this hard. Cancer is cruel. We will always love you Gil. Rest in Peace.
Check your inboxes! Apparel order information was emailed out this morning. If you did not receive an email, text/message me with your email address and I'll forward everything to you.
