Byrne DairyStores in Onondaga Hill opened up the other day, beautiful store. Each Byrne dairy store features one of their producing farms picture on one of the walls of each store. Our farm picture is in the Byrne Dairy store in Onondaga Hill along with our farm name on some of the packaging of some of their great products.

We’re slowly getting some seed in the ground and continuing to get the rest of the manure out.Seeding down a few fields with alfalfa, the weather has defiantly been a challenge for us and everybody else that’s for sure.It sure would be nice to have a normal year,it’s been so long now that I might not even know what a normal year is.

As we close in on spring we close in on finishing up our winter projects. This was one winter project that we have been working on and it is finally done. Unfortunately the truck got rolled over during corn silage harvest. The driver was fine, luckily no one got hurt.

Although a temporary waiver has been extended for another 90 days not requiring a ELD (electronic logging device)in farm trucks, this needs to go away entirely. The amount of money that it would take any and all farms to comply with such a law would be exuberant.Just on our farm alone we have over a dozen trucks that would take a small fortune to equip with ELD’s and that goes for every farm, none of us can afford such regulations. The cost of an ELD range from $150 to as much as... $800 per truck, not to mention the management daily of these devices. This is just an example of one more regulation that we hopefully don’t have to deal with. There is only one way to bring up dairy prices( milk)and that is to put as many regulations as they can on us to put everybody out of business.Once everybody is out of business there will be a higher demand on a product that costs to much to produce.Have a good day folks and support Your local Farm Bureau they seem to have the strongest voice for us.
