December 2020 Project Spotlight: Comprehensive Plan Update for the Town of Durham The Town of Durham received a Greenway Community Planning Grant to update their 2008 Comprehensive Plan. In recent years, the Town of Durham has experienced an increase in home purchases by individuals and families from New York City and other urban areas. With that, there have some shifts in current interests. For example, the Town has seen a resurgence of agriculture by non-generational farmer...s, which include many young farmers. There are also increasing interests in a motocross track, a shooting range, and solar farms. Updating the 2008 Comprehensive Plan allows the Town to review, revise, and update their plan to better meet the needs and interests of their community while taking into account the economic development and natural, cultural, scenic, and historic preservation goals of the region and State.
