A new study conducted by Next Smile Dental recently revealed that the majority of people (61%) have delayed dental care due to the ongoing pandemic. This revelation has caused concern for dentists, as dental and oral health is intricately linked with overall full-body health. Most dentists insist that despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, continuing regular dental care is not only safe but crucial. According to Hudson Valley Dental Care, PC dentist Cristi Freinberg-Trufas, dental office staff is trained in managing viral and bacterial exposures and have known how to sanitize, disinfect, and sterilize instruments, surfaces and treatment areas long before the pandemic. Dealing with COVID is no different, other than wearing increased PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and observing higher levels of disinfection, Freinberg-Trufas said. We are specialists in this and were able to integrate COVID precautions readily into our practices. Some of the practices dental facilities are implementing are evaluating HVAC systems to be sure they are properly circulating air in our offices, observing social distancing with staff and patients, taking temperatures of staff members and patients, rethinking waiting rooms, and check-in/check-out procedures. Our number one priority is to keep our patients and staff members safe during this time, Freinberg-Trufas said.

Dental Greetings from Dr. Cristi Freinberg-Trufas Hello! I hope this note finds you and your loved ones well. We are living through a challenging time and I wanted to reach out and let you know that like each of you, we are doing our best to understand and implement the ever-changing information to create a dental office that you feel confident and safe to visit once we are able to see and treat our patients. CURRENT STATUS... We are closed for routine and non-urgent dental care per NYS mandate. We do not know, at this time, when we will be open to see patients normally. We ARE able to help our patients with dental emergencies, however. So if you are having a painful dental emergency, please call my emergency line at 518-209-3866. We will discuss your problem and determine what we can do to help you. WHAT WE ARE WORKING ON Dentistry presents a unique situation with regard to COVID-19, as the practice of dentistry aerosolizes saliva. Therefore, we are researching and implementing numerous technologies and protocols that will help mitigate this situation. So far, we've initiated/installed: -An HVAC air purification system which improves fine filtration and provides UV light treatment. This unit circulates, filters, and kills bacteria and viruses in the air. -Patient protocols to best screen anyone visiting the office (more on this later) -New suction devices to help mitigate dental aerosols -Physical barriers -Procuring CDC-recommended PPE for staff -No-touch patient check-in and check-out procedures and technology -Automated patient payment system -Different work hours to accommodate your schedule once we are able to see patients As I'm sure you're aware, the recommendations and advice on best practices changes constantly. I am continuing to educate and update myself daily so that I can best provide safer dental care for you and your family once we are able to see one another in person - a time to which I'm greatly looking forward.
