URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT Dear Ice & Vice Family, It is with great sadness that we announce Ice & Vice will be closing its doors November 1st, permanently. Our shops LES, LIC, TimeOut Market will be open until the end of that day for our final hurrah.... We want to thank our loyal fans, customers, partners, and community for the past 7 amazing years. We are blessed to have been given the opportunity to share our vision for ice cream with the world. From selling ice cream on a street corner in Williamsburg, to winning the Vendy Awards, to opening our flagship shop on the Lower East Side, our journey has been nothing short of the American Dream for a couple of ice cream weirdos. As hard as we’ve tried, we were not able to overcome the economic reality of this pandemic. As our great city of NYC has been crippled by COVID-19, we too were challenged with the public safety, financial strain, and emotional impact of this virus. In the end, we were unable to meet this challenge. But there is no such thing as goodbye Let’s just say, this is ta ta for now. When you return, you'll notice that we've taken a few extra precautions. TO OUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS: We will be re-opening very soon. For the past several months we have been closed so that we might help fight the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As a small business, it was the most difficult decision we have ever had to make. It was painful, especially for our employees, for whom many Ice and Vice is the primary source of income. To our employees who have endured this with us, thank you. To our customers, thank you for your support. Your messages of suppor...t and gift card purchases have kept us going. Over the past several months, the world has given us a real opportunity to reflect and re-evaluate what is important to us in hope that we may be better as people, a community, and as a society. Following the murder of George Floyd, our country has once again come to a crossroads. Having personally lived through the L.A. riots, it is upsetting and frustrating that almost 30 years later, little has changed - that being black can be a death sentence. Like many, we at Ice & Vice are outraged; that our outrage is normalized, is heartbreaking. We are better than this. As a minority-owned business, we stand with our black employees and the black community in the fight for meaningful change to end the systemic inequality that plagues our society. George Floyd’s life matters. Black lives matter. Your life matters. Our I SCREAM! Kiosk in Times Square has for the past three years been dedicated to raising awareness of the country’s most pressing social issues and donating to charities supporting these causes. This season will be no exception. Though it is uncertain whether the I SCREAM! Kiosk will return to Times Square this season due to the ongoing pandemic, its mission will continue at the LES shop. When we re-open, we will be donating a portion of our sales to the Black Lives Matter movement so that we may fight for meaningful change. We are encouraged by the mobilization of today’s youth and the passion for change to be better allies and to be our better selves. Mahatma Ghandi once said, Be the change that we wish to see in the world. Now, more than ever, does this wisdom rings true. Now, let's get to work. Together. #blacklivesmatter
