We were lucky to be joined by several new host organizations in 2020, amazing legal services providers and community organizations that never before had the opportunity to host an IJC Fellow in the past. And in 2020, every organization fighting for justice needed all the capacity they could get. We reached out to those partners to see if they could share with us the impact IJC Fellows have had in their organizations. Here is what they had to say:

"Real change, enduring change, happens one step at a time. - Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Immigrant Justice Corps mourns the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a legal giant who dedicated her entire life to fighting for equality. She was an inspiration to young lawyers pursuing social justice. We are heartbroken by her passing. We will continue to be inspired by Justice Ginsburg’s tenacious pursuit of justice and will always treasure her visit with our Fellows where she spoke passionately about the importance of securing access to justice for all. In our work, in our lives, we will carry forth her legacy step by step. - Jojo Annobil, IJC Executive Director

This month we say goodbye to our graduating Class of 2018 Fellows as well as our 3rd and 4th year Fellows, a group of outstanding advocates and lawyers. These incredible leaders have left an indelible mark on countless lives in immigrant communities from New York to Texas during their 2+ years as Fellows. We are deeply grateful to have been a part of their journey. As they take their next steps into staff attorney positions, community organizing, law school and beyond, we are honored that they chose Immigrant Justice Corps to start their careers. We couldn’t be more proud of this class or more excited for their journeys that lie ahead. Onward!

IJC recently joined an open letter with Public Rights Project and many other public interest legal orgs urging state bars to cancel bar examinations this year and award full diploma privilege to recent law school graduates! Both in-person and online exams exacerbate inequities affecting applicants of color, lower-income applicants, and applicants with disabilities, and COVID-19 has only made the need for licensed public interest lawyers greater. Read and join the open letter here:
