Community Bank plans to close our Indian Lake branch, effective April 9, 2021. With Indian Lake being the highest populated town in Hamilton County, it would be unacceptable to lose our bank. Driving all the way to Long Lake or North Creek to bank would be inconvenient at best and difficult at worst. In an effort to stave off this closure, please call Community Bank Regional Director Kent Backus at 518-561-0086 to let him know that Community Bank must keep our branch open.

We thank ALL who signed the online petition and contacted Community Bank N.A. directly to communicate the necessity of keeping our Indian Lake branch OPEN. Yes, we did make a difference! From our friends at Indian Lake Community Development Corporation: JAN 20, 2021 Community Bank, N.A. notified Town Supervisor Brian Wells today that they will NOT be closing the Indian Lake branch. They will maintain regular hours until early April. After that point, the bank will be ope...n three days a week. The specific days of the week and hours are not known at this time. Thank you to the 900 plus people who signed the petition. It’s quite impressive and heartwarming that so many individuals came together for a common good.

We are about 7-10 days past peak colors. But there are abundant pockets of leftover pretty here! And many of the birch and aspen trees still haven't completely turned over in color yet. Although the Adirondack Mountains Antiques Show has been cancelled for this year, we'll still have things for our visitors to do this weekend! Check out the Indian Lake Community Farmers Market Saturday from 10am-2pm. The Indian Lake Knights of Columbus are selling pumpkin and squash at St. Mary's Church front lawn Saturday from 9am-2pm. And there will be Rustic and Antique tents in Blue Mountain Lake this weekend. Remember to follow all COVID-19 safety protocol to keep everyone safe whilst having fun.

Evaluating foliage can be highly subjective, but I'd say we're at about 25% color change at present. This weekend will be chilly and crisp with frosty mornings and abundant mid-day/afternoon sunshine which should really pop out the colors we have now and probably accelerate the coloration.
