Interestingly, NONE of the attendees cited Transition Assistance Programs (TAPs) or Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs) as their best source for veteran candidates. *Hiring Veterans in 2020 and Beyond Webinar Insights* Our webinar panelists noted that approximately 200,000 service members transition from active duty to the civilian workforce every year. This large, recurring pool of talent is generally underutilized by staffing firms seeking to source talent for their customers. The panelists offered several recommendations for staffing firms to increase utilization of transitioning veteran talent:... - Use social networking sites, especially LinkedIn, as veteran candidates are very active on these sites - Work with clients to understand their veteran hiring goals, especially areas of their business where veterans are underutilized - Inform client stakeholders of the veteran status of contingent staff once they have been brought onboard by the client - Work with client stakeholders to make job descriptions more veteran-friendly We are planning to focus the next webinar in our Veteran Hiring series on marketing contingent staffing to transitioning veterans.
