Good Morning! Change to our Late Cancellation/No Show policy. Again, just another long post in 2020! Please keep in mind that ICA is only allowed to operate at 50-60% capacity. This means that we are full and busy but it’s still a struggle to mantain our overhead and keep ICA afloat until we can start to follow a more sustainable schedule. Each appointment completed is important to our survival. If you cancel with less then 24 hours notice or No Call No Show we will ask y...ou to please pay a fee of $25. In the past we’ve been able to overlook late cancels and only charge after 2 late cancels. Unfortunately we just don’t have that flexibility anymore. The only exceptions are ILLNESS THAT MAY BE COVID RELATED SYMPTOMS that you or a family may be exhibiting or possible exposure. We can’t risk exposing the clinic. And of course going into winter .... Dear Patient Family, WHAT WE CAN ALL DO TO KEEP THE CLINIC SAFE AND COMFORTABLE DURING A RISE IN COVID CASES. I'm sure there are many emotions that go along with the rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in our community. We are doing all that we can to continue to provide SAFE and effective treatments here at ICA. We will continue to ask our patients questions based on COVID-19 symptoms, take temperatures and O2 readings. We will ask you to refrain from booking an appointment fo...r 2 weeks if you have traveled to states with high incidences of COVID-19. As always we wipe down the bathroom and disinfect chairs between each patient. Laundry is washed with antibacterial detergent and dried on high temperature sanitizing cycles, on site. Chairs are placed so that all heads are 12 feet apart. Steam cleaning, surface wiping and vacuuming with disinfectant powder are regular occurrences and have you noticed the hand sanitizer EVERYWHERE? We also think our low contact, self serve Square terminal is pretty cool :) I will continue to get regular COVID-19 testing. HEPA filters and additional ventilation is placed strategically in both the private room and the community room. So that's what we do but we have somethings to ask of you. - If you aren't feeling well please stay home. As health care practitioners it absolutely pains us to turn folks away that we want to help but we need to keep the community safe and the clinic free of potential exposure. - Please be truthful when answering our screening questions. - If your temp is elevated when we take it and we have to refuse treatment please know that it isn't an easy thing to ask of you. We WANT to treat you but in this case you need to take care of yourself and we need to keep our community fever free at the clinic. - Please don't ask if you can take your mask off during the treatment and please don't pull your mask under your nose while resting. We are very strict about masking here at ICA. Tim and I mask up in the car before we come in and don't remove our masks until we leave at night. If your mask slips we may tap you on the shoulder and ask that you pull it up. Keep in mind that NYS has designated acupuncture as an essential service. :) So that means we can remain open as long as we feel it's safe to. We will be monitoring numbers and we may make some changes to our protocol if necessary. Thank you for reading this LONG post! Fun fact! We have cleaned our bathroom over FIVE HUNDRED times since we opened on June 26th!!! Sometimes over 10 times a day! The addition of steam cleaning has been great as well! Squeaky clean bathrooms rock! How do we know? We log every time we clean the bathroom after patients use it to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

Since we opened in June ICA is running at a limited capacity. In the last month we’ve started to book full on a daily basis. If you’ve been meaning to book an appointment scheduling ahead is recommended. Tim and I are so grateful for the Ithaca community that continues to support ICA Thank you!

Two important reminders for returning patients: 1. If you arrive early please wait OUTSIDE of the clinic until 5 minutes before you treatment. Our reception area can not be used as a waiting area for the safety of our staff and patients. 2. If you book your appointments ONLINE please be sure to schedule yourself as a RETURN patient. We understand mistakes happen but if you schedule as an initial patient your appointment is actually scheduled for 2 acupuncture slots. We’ve bee...n booking full the last few weeks and it may take the opportunity away from another patient to get some much needed acupuncture Thanks for your understanding!!

Remember this place? TEN years ago Tim and I opened Ithaca Community Acupuncture on West State Street behind Tree of Life Health and Wellness and 4 years ago we moved locations to Dey Street. 10 years later we’ve given 10’s of 1000’s of effective community acupuncture treatments at accessible rates. We’ve participated and hosted many wellness fundraisers, offered scholarships to people going through cancer treatments and given free auricular acupuncture to our US Veteran’s.... We never would have guessed that our 10 year anniversary would be smack in the middle a pandemic but we feel so lucky to be open and providing during this time. We couldn’t do it without the support of Ithaca and our patient family. Things may look different these days but ICA still offers a place a place of rest and reprieve during 2020.
