Hi all, we have seen a post going around about our restaurant and want to be completely transparent with our customers. We are horrified by the misunderstanding that is taking place. On Monday, our manager personally reached out to Shelbi (the original customer) via Facebook Messenger as soon as he saw her post but did not receive a response. Here is our manager's message: "Hi Shelbi, ... We are sorry that you were disappointed in your experience at our restaurant. We want to be transparent with you about what happened since I feel like there was a language barrier when we spoke. We had been trying to explain that it was a squilla (baby mantis shrimp) that had been in the food you are eating. In our restaurant, we cook clams and crab together for one of our dishes and when the clams open after cooking, whatever its last meal may be found inside. Squilla can sometimes be found in clams as it is one of its food sources (squilla, when they are fully grown, also consume clams and crabs). We have reached out to our seafood suppliers to inform them this has happened. We received a response saying that this is not uncommon in the seafood industry. Again, we apologize that you did not feel like you had a good experience at our restaurant. We want to reassure you that we would never compromise the food safety in our restaurant to customers and staff in fact, everyone who works here including myself also eats from the buffet line as well). Our customers' trust in us has always been most important to us so we wanted to formally address this issue.
