Ivy Lane Players 19.02.2021

In the spirit of gratitude, The Ivy Lane Players are sharing a photo of the current status of the stage in the Mildred B. Cantor Community Room. We are thankful for the work being performed, even in the midst of a pandemic, and look forward to seeing the final result of the essential and hard work needed to update the room technologically and to ensure the comfort, safety and enjoyment of our audiences. We salute the Levittown Public Library which, despite a heavy burden, continues to provide services to the community and we look forward to returning to performing in 2021.

This is another sad casualty of the current health crisis.

STATUS UPDATE The good news is that the Levittown Public Library advises there have been many inquiries about the return of the Ivy Lane Players' shows and that it anticipates a 2021 return to productions where the players and the audience comport with the required Public Health Guidelines. The Levittown Public Library further advises that, due to the NYS / Nassau County and Hempstead Town public health requirements regarding public performances and the impact upon the ongoin...g renovations in the Mildred Cantor Community Room, no performances will be scheduled on the library stage in 2020. Without clear governmental directives provided to the Levittown Public Library regarding the number of persons permitted per performance, as well as social distancing guidelines, no performance guidelines can be determined at this time. We will post updated information as it becomes available. The Levittown Public Library is concerned about safeguarding everyone’s health. Thus, we anticipate that, upon our return, there will be a number of changes connected with future productions. The following changes may be implemented: a reduction in the number of seats available per performance and that only a specific number of ticket-holders will be permitted to attend each designated performance with all seating arrangements in compliance with Covid-19 safety guidelines. There may also be an impact upon the productions, including the size of casts as the total number of persons permitted in the theatre must include performers, the crew and the audience for each show. We anticipate that the productions will also have to take into account social distancing from the audience and that cast members will not be permitted to visit with family / friends in the library before or after performances. Other restrictions may be applied in order to support the health and safety of the cast, crew and audience. Postings will occur here as developments arise once the entertainment phase of NYS recovery is reached. As with all aspects of the new normal, non-compliance is non-negotiable. We hope that everyone is safe and doing well during the on-going health crisis.

We have been requested by Harry Gross and Nancy E. Keegan to post the following with regrets: ATTENTION ALL THESPIANS!!! Due to the health issues surrounding the COVID-19... pandemic, we regret to announce that the 3rd Annual St. Genesius Day Beach Party will be cancelled. However, Nancy E. Keegan and Harry Gross urge you to enjoy August 22nd or 23rd outdoors, if you can (and weather permitting). Stay safe, wear a mask, and socially distance yourself from others while you enjoy the outdoors. Your personal St. Genesius Day party can still be a BYOE event (Bring Your Own Everything - food, drink, umbrellas, chairs, etc.). An outing to a local park would be a nice way to get outside, and break the ‘cabin fever’ many of us are experiencing. Stay Safe! Wear A Mask and avoid crowds! Hopefully, we will be able to return to the beach NEXT year, for the 4th Annual St. Genesius Day Beach Party! Please note: Nancy and Harry will probably go to the beach anyway (Field 6) at around 4:00 PM on the afternoon of the 22nd of August (weather permitting). Any who feel adventurous are welcome to come sit near us, but no closer than 6 feet!
