FUN FACT: The Merry Cemetery in a small town in Romania Spâna celebrates the lives of its deceased residents in an unusual manner. It has over 800 coloured crosses and tombstones which depict the lives of the deceased in a humorous way, and often they also share their dirty secrets.

Today is Czechoslovak Independence Day, marking 102 years since the creation of Czechoslovakia. Although Czechoslovakia hasn't existed since 1992 and Slovaks no longer mark the occasion, Czechs still do. It's a public holiday and in a normal year wreath-laying ceremonies take place and the national anthem is played.
