Tadd Dameron recorded his "The Magic Touch" album for Riverside Records over three sessions (February 27, March 9 and our session on April 16). Around this time, Tadd was also completing five big band arrangements of his original compositions for Benny Goodman's big band tour to Moscow (U.S.S.R) which took place from May 30-July 6, 1962. Tadd arranged Just Plain Talkin' along with three other compositions from "The Magic Touch" album for Goodman. Unfortunately, no Goodman recording or air check of a performance exists for Tadd's Just Plain Talkin' arrangement, but the arrangement itself does exist and is available from eJazzLines.com. https://jazzleadsheets.com/just-plain-talkin.html

Happy Birthday, Mario Bauzá! Born April 11, 1911!! Mario Bauzá is considered today to be one of the most important forces in the Afro-Cuban jazz movementperhaps even the founding father of Latin jazz. His classical training, deep knowledge of Cuban music and love of jazz combined to make him uniquely able to compose Cuban-jazz integrations in the 1940s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IujAxx7rjEE
