Tina Alexis Allen is an actress, playwright, and author. A break-out star on WGN’s hit series Outsiders, Tina’s memoir Hiding Out shares her story as the youngest of 13 kids in a Catholic family growing up in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and unravels her privileged suburban Catholic upbringing that was shaped by her formidable fathera man whose strict religious devotion and dedication to his large family hid his true nature and a life defined by deep secrets and dangerous lies.... Allen wrote and performed her critically acclaimed solo show which informed the book, SECRETS OF A HOLY FATHER, in New York and Los Angeles. Based on her own life, Allen yearned to understand the complicated and highly secretive double life of her father. By transforming herself into him, she took her father’s journey exploring the universal themes of family betrayal, redemption and forgiveness in a tour-de-force performance. Tina is a self-described tomboy at heart. After accepting a basketball scholarship to the University of Maryland, she caught the fashion bug, earned an MBA in marketing and moved to NYC. While working as a fashion executive on Seventh Avenue, she spent her weekends seeing Broadway shows and igniting a love of the arts. Some soul searching led to Tina leaving her successful career to pursue acting. She has since been celebrated for her diverse range of roles in theatre, film and television. - - - - To join a community of like-minded aspiring authors join Jenn T. Today’s guest is Ali Hannon, who is an award-winning comedy performer and communications professional. They work with organisations, teams and individuals to explore themselves and the world around them through improv-inspired workshops, training and development. She has realized in the midst of a pandemic that improv is a critical way to equip folx to create and maintain (and strengthen) our relationships against the odds, as well as educate about emerging issues of identit...y and how they impact the workplace, such as gender identity and expression. She has spent a lot of time working with the insurance industry, and is heartened to be finding more and more interest in these topics. Ali’s approach blends skills developed over ten years performing and teaching improvised comedy, with an established track record of developing multinational executive communications. Whatever the subject, their joyful approach leaves people with a solid understanding of whatever topic is being tackled and lots of excitement. Ali’s focus is on creating safe spaces in which people can discuss and explore tricky topics and find their own way to a better understanding. Ali is a member of the Short & Girlie Show, and is the founder of improv collective ‘More to Honk With’. - - - - - - - - - To jump start your writing, check out Jenn T.
