Meet Larissa Modesitt, Sustainer. Larissa joined the Junior League in 2007 and spent 11 years as an Active Member. She served as Assistant Treasurer, Treasurer, Member at Large & Executive Vice President. She had a love for fundraising and enjoyed working on special projects such as Night at the Races and Trails to Treasures. As a Sustainer she still enjoys supporting the Junior League by attending fundraisers and participating in the Mobile Food Pantry. Most recently, Laris...sa hosted a "Cooking for a Cause" outreach event with other Sustainers in honor of a past president. "I love the Junior League because it empowers women to be leaders. In addition to all the good work we do, one of the goals is to empower women to be future leaders. If you look at people who have been past presidents, and members of the League, they have gone on to do wonderful things in the community." Thank you Larissa for being a part of our sisterhood and helping our community!

Friday's Mobile Food Pantry at Beulah in Mount Vernon was sponsored and staffed by many enthusiastic JLB Member Volunteers but there are two in particular we would like to take a moment to thank and celebrate... Elizabeth Peacock @biz2peacock and Kathryn Hentschel have been consistent participants in the League's Mobile Food Pantry program since its inception in 2014. Thank you both for your dedication and many hundreds of hours of service to our Community. #JLbettertogether... Feeding Westchester See more

Meet Allison Coyne, Sustainer: "I began my journey as a Provisional Member participating in community outreach events such as ‘The Diaper Drive,’ and it was so rewarding to give back! I have had the opportunity to work with other women in the community, and have seen them grow and blossom into their own successes, while also experiencing growth for myself. I have learned to push myself past my comfort zone, and have tried new things, which has rewarded me with the opportunity to serve as the VP of Finance and Treasurer in the JLB, as well as the Community Grants Chair. There is no doubt in my mind that the JLB has helped so many women grow and reach their full potential in the community." Please reach out to Allison; thank you, Allison, for all you do for the League and our Community!

The Junior League of Bronxville thanks our members for their work packing, wrapping and then distributing much needed necessities for Bundles of Joy on Saturday, March 13. More than 30 members participated over five days to prepare the bundles and their contents. These bundles consisted of diapers, lotion, hats, masks, gloves, wipes and toiletries. Also, there was baby formula for those in need. This wonderful event delivered bundles to 30 mothers as well as bundles to 50 children including 60 toys collected by the Junior League of Bronxville. We are so proud to count Bundles of Joy as one of our amazing community partners.

Throwback Thursday to the most recent Mobile Food Pantry sponsored by the Junior League of Bronxville in support of our long time partner Feeding Westchester. Members of the JLB attended the December 22nd MFP at Parker School in Mount Vernon and assisted in distributing whole foods to many families that face the challenge of food insecurity. It is a problem that we at the JLB take to heart and we are committed to continuing to work hard to help our neighbors. #JLBronxville #JLBettertogether #Hungerrelief #Volunteer

She has found her time in the Junior League to be a great way to connect to her community while being able to use her skills to make a difference in the organization. In addition, each passing year, Grace has made some incredible new friends and has enriched many of her existing friendships. The Junior League of Bronxville (JLB) Mobile Food Pantry partnership with Feeding Westchester began in 2014. The Mobile Food Pantry is a traveling grocery "store" which distributes fresh and nutritious food to the communities that need it the most. By working with Feeding Westchester, the JLB has sponsored multiple locations throughout Yonkers and Mount Vernon over the years. At a time when our volunteer organization has been challenged by COVID-19, the JLB was honored to be... able to host its 150th Mobile Food Pantry outreach on October 23, 2020. While wearing masks and being socially distant is a change from the past, the League's commitment to this critical need in the community remains steadfast now and into the future. #jlbronxville #jlbettertogether #juniorleague #bronxville #eastchester #mountvernon #tuckahoe #yonkers #JLBronxvilleCommunityPartners

This Monday we would like to introduce you to one of our long standing Community Partners...Jared Apuzzo of CSA Soup Kitchen Jared Apuzzo started working for CSA (Community Service Associates) in the summer of 2001. What started as a summer job ended up being a full time career. Through the years, Jared has handled many of the administrative functions of CSA from coordinating volunteers for serving and cooking meals to organizing fundraisers and writing grants. Jared earne...d his certification for food safety in 2018 adding the full time chef position to his list of responsibilities. In 2016 Jared started the "Make A Meal for One Night" program which helped ease the financial burden of food costs while still providing delicious home cooked meals to guests. The Covid 19 Pandemic has changed the way CSA is distributing food, but it has not changed the quality and quantity of food that each guest receives. Today, if Jared is not grant writing, scheduling volunteers to cook meals, ordering inventory, or cooking in the kitchen, you can find him outside the Armory at 5pm distributing take home bags of food to any individual who is in need of a free meal. Continuing our partnership which has served many people over the years, this week the JLB will be "Cooking For A Cause" in memory of our former President and beloved member Erica Sevilla. More than 30 members have signed up to participate in preparing meals to be delivered and served to 100 CSA Soup Kitchen participants over two nights. #JLBronxvilleCommunityPartners #volunteer #bettertogether #bronxville #eastchester #mountvernon #tuckahoe #yonkers
