Give your body the tools and your nervous system will follow. This is why I like a parts to whole model. Let’s use the squat as an example. If a person struggles to get into the position, break it down into its components.... Ankle Dorsiflexion Thoracic Spine Extension Hip Flexion Hip Rotation Now you can look at each part and train the positions that are impacting your squat the most. Getting your fitness and rehab team on the same page helps bridge the gap. I’ve had instances where what I was doing and what my patients trainer was doing was counter productive. Getting on a call with that person and exchanging a few emails allowed us to compliment each other’s work and get amazing results for that person.... We lose mobility for 2 reasons; disuse and injury. Stop blaming your age as the reason you are no longer flexible. Whatever poor mobility you have now, it was an adaptation based off your movement history.... Guess what? You can improve your mobility in the same light.
