Not happy news. My opponent won this 112th Assembly election. While there are thousands of absentee ballots yet to me counted, it is not enough to make up the difference. It appears that my opponents' votes largely paralleled those of Trump. It is troubling that many of our otherwise seemingly decent neighbors embrace total disregard for the truth, vilifying the free press, racism and hatemongering, child abuse of asylum seekers, science denial, joining with an enemy Russian ...dictator and other elements of fascism. But this is our reality. Yet the struggle for democracy and racial, economic & environmental justice continues. The presidency has yet to be decided, and we must see that all absentee ballots are counted. This afternoon, there will be Protect the Results rallies across America (https://protecttheresults.com/). I hope you will join me at 3pm at the rally on Wolf Rd & Central Ave in Colonie (https://www.mobilize.us/ptr/event/354456/ & https://fb.me/e/4vQzo88ym). There was some good news; the Working Families Party retained its' NY ballot status. We have some work yet to do to clean up after ourselves. I ask everyone who took or distributed lawn signs to please collect them, & make arrangements with me to return them to Ballston Spa. I have no intention of running again, but we can use the signs turned inside out in the future. Folks, we gave our all in this campaign & should be very proud of our valiant efforts. I especially want to thank our core team: Patrick Jordan, Ellen Egger-Aimone, Susan Weber, Brian Frederick, Al Ormsby, Ryan Adams, Ellie Dillon, Lucy Battle, Sami DeRagon, Isaiah Moore, Delia Creveling, Julia Plourde, Emma Hulbert, Olivia Kupiec and Ansel Asch. There are also hundreds of volunteers & donors to be thanked, too many to mention here. It has been a great honor, and sometimes even fun, to work with each and every one of you. I am incredibly inspired by all the hard work and personal sacrifice of our team.
