Acceptance does not mean love. It is by definition the willingness to tolerate a difficult or unpleasant situation. I will never judge myself or anyone else for not being happy with something and wanting to change it. I will however encourage accepting your body despite its flaws and evaluating whatever belief systems are in place that are causing the desire to change. . . How much brain space being occupied by the thoughts of wanting to change your body, the food you are ...eating, and the guilt that they are directly related to each other? . . Trying to change your body through calorie counting is a false sense of control. The counting of calories quickly becomes rigid and soon it is actually in control of you. . . The restrict obsession struggle cheat or binge guilt/shame cycle is then very common. . . . It is my job as a professional and friend to give people the tools to try to do it differently. . . . Does this sound familiar? Comment below or DM if you have struggled with this and if so what has helped you! #bodyacceptance #countingcalories . . . . . #dietitian #momsandmamas #eatingdisorderrecovery #edrecovery #recovery #edwarrior #recoverywarrior #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #bodypositive #theeverygirl #eatingdisorderawareness #theeverymom #haes #neda #selfcompassion #bodyimage #thebecomeproject #dietsehat #dietsdontwork #antidiet #intuitiveeating #foodisfood See more

Sometimes we run out of things to feed our kids (and ourselves) and can feel guilty about it. It’s more important to get kids in the habit of eating in the morning so making the most of what already works is key. . . Tip: put yogurt and fruit on the side in small containers so if they don’t finish it you can put a lid on it and bring along for a morning snack. .... . . Also- a frozen whole grain waffle almost mirrors the nutrition of a slice of bread. So put something like yogurt or eggs on the side for protein and it’s a pretty balanced breakfast. Plus it’s portable as most kids wouldn’t mind eating it with their hands. #waffles #breakfastforkids . . . . . #beforeandafter #kidsnutrition #noguilt #momsofinstagram #dietitian #nutritionist #eggs #yogurt #instafood #foodpics #parenting #dailyparenting #motherhoodunplugged #toddlersofinstagram #feedinglittles #feedingkids #healthyeating #healthyhabits #breakfastisthemostimportantmealoftheday #honestnutrition #honestmomnutrition See more

Happens every night...so now we have a few things they know they can have if they are hungry before bed. Cheese stick, yogurt, or fruit. Goodnight! Kids aside- This is one of the most common questions I get asked. How late is too late to eat dinner? What time should I stop eating at night? My usual answer is that there is no magic number, it is what fits best in to your lifestyle. Some can eat close to bed time and it doesn’t effect their sleep. Others might feel... they don’t have as restful a night if they eat a larger meal too close to bedtime. . . Either way any diet that suggests a hard and fast rule to stop eating is just setting you up for failure. There are nights when life happens and it’s 9 o’clock by the time you can have dinner. Feeling guilty for that is definitely not healthy! . . General advice for after dinner snacking: stop eating when you feel satisfied for the evening. This might be tricky for some but working on it can be helpful. But if you are genuinely hungry please eat something as you will likely wake up the next day hungrier then usual. . . Comment if this happens in your house or DM if you have questions about before bed snacking! . . . . . . #letterboardquotes #letterfolk #momsofinstagram #mamatribevibes #momsandmamas #dietitian #nutritionist #myhonestmotherhood #eatingdisorderrecovery #letterboard #thehappynow #motherhood #momlife #kidlife #instagood #eatgood #positivevibes #weekendvibes #dinnertime #truth #theeverymom #eatrealfood #livethelittlethings #theeverygirl #eatingdisorder #honestmommin #honestmomnutrition #eatwhatyoulove #petitejoys See more

In light of #NEDAwareness week it’s a great time to draw attention to the diet messages sent to our kids starting from an early age. There is no real data on what helps to prevent eating disorders but creating a healthy relationship with food and body image early on is a great place to start! #takeupspace #eatingdisorder #letterfolk

Do you love diet soda? Find out why it might be good to get rid of it from your diet!

Educating teens on having a healthy and positive relationship with food and body image in a diet obsessed world is extremely difficult. Promoting balanced eating approaches and activity is step 1....not diets!

Anyone else a professional snack slinger? Breakfast is one of the hardest meals to get nutritious and filling foods in to kids (and ourselves!) ... The one on the left is a good breakfast. It contains grains and fruit and sometimes this is all our kids feel like eating early. The one on the right adds some protein and fat which will hold their bellies full just a little bit longer. I also think of this for myself when I want pancakes for breakfast. I add an egg or two and it keeps me full longer. We can’t stop our kids from always looking for snacks but at least we can lower the time in between requests! #snacks #nutritionist #pickyeater #toddlermeals #mealprep #kidseathealthy #toddlerlife #nutritionist #nutritionmom #positivevibes #kidsfood #mindfuleating #pancakes #eggs #balancedmeal #healthyfoodideas #kidsbreakfast #breakfastideas #pancakesandeggs #kidsnutrition #healthymealideas #planahead #eatthis #healthyswaps #chew #feedinglittles #feedingkids #rdeats #eeeeeats #kidapproved See more

Wanted to share a great visual by @thefashionfitnessfoodie related to my post yesterday. . . Identify food as food and the nutrients it contains rather then what single category you’ve been told to call it. .... . Rewriting the dialogue in your head when it comes to categorizing food as good or bad starts with simple steps like this. Thinking of food as macros seems harmless enough but it can quickly become obsessive and frankly a little weird. (In my opinion ) . . And when it comes to talking about food around kids the less diet language the better! . . . Anyone else get a headache when this type of nutrition or diet talk starts?? #macros #foodisfood . . . . . #balancedeating #foodcomparison #sidebyside #foodpics #diettalk #iifym #iifymfood #ifitfitsyourmacros #nutritionist #edrecovery #edwarrior #carbs #healthyfood #honestnutrition #kidsnutrition #kidsnutritionist #kitchenlife #dietitian See more

I recently had to google #iifym as I realized I was seeing it everywhere and literally had no idea what it actually stood for. . . I always considered this extreme sort of thing that anyone following a strict diet for performance (like competitive sports or training competitions) would have followed. .... . But now every time i scroll social media my macro/micro nutrition classes are coming back to haunt me. . . Why am I not a fan of categorizing food like this? Because although for some it can be fine there are a lot more that are at risk of it becoming obsessive, rigid, and disruptive to their daily life. . . . So much of the food we eat has many different nutrients and calling it food or better yet breakfast might be a slightly healthier way of thinking. #foodisfood #honestnutrition . . . . . . . . #macros #macronutrients #ifitfitsyourmacros #eatingdisorderrecovery #allfoodsfit #eatgoodfood #edwarrior #mamastakenote #teammotherly #mamatribe #mamatribevibes #bodypositive #motherhood #motherhoodunfiltered #foodshare #honestmommin #eatingwell #motherhoodthroughinstagram #thejuggleisreal #ihaveembraced #realstagram #motherhoodvillage #teammotherly #sharetheeverymom #theeverygirl #theeverymom #macrosarestupid See more

Usually this reads: Spend time doing things that make you forget to check your phone. . . I thought it could also apply to when we eat!
