A popular trend at weddings is giving guests poppers with confetti to shoot off at one point another during the celebration. However, confetti isn’t always the best for mother nature, especially if it’s made up of plastic. In celebration of Earth Day, we want to share some sustainable options that will still be just as fun and beautiful! Flower petals in confetti poppers Biodegradable tissue paper Dried flowers... What fun, sustainable alternatives have you seen at weddings? Share them with us in the comments below!

Oh, the first look This beautiful moment is the first time you get to see each other and have a few moments-just the two of you. Take the time to be together and reflect on how special the day truly is - it goes by fast and any opportunity to soak it all in should be taken. @jpelario

Did you get engaged over the holidays? If you did, a huge congratulations! Your head may be spinning with ideas and confusion over what to do first. Here are a few things we think you should do first to make wedding planning a success: First things first - celebrate! Take a few weeks to just soak it all in and enjoy that just engaged feeling. ... Get your ring resized and insured. Pick a date! Nothing else can be planned without your special date so this is something you need to decide on early on in the planning process. Think about a special season that speaks to you and your partner and... Select your wedding party! This isn’t something you need to do ASAP but it is always nice to have your tribe confirmed sooner than later. (especially with so many postponements in 2020) Hire a planner! If planning an entire wedding seems like the most overwhelming thing to you, enlist the help of a wedding planner. We can be involved as much or as little as you like, but having that expert guidance will set your mind at ease. @katiefinnerty @jennycdesign @hannoush_jewlers_ny and @frankadamsjewel

Some really wonderful advice from KOWE bride Danielle on reimagining your wedding day and still making the most of it If you changed your wedding plans due to COVID, what’s one thing you want to share with others who may be forced to do the same? Feel free to share in the comments below!

Signature cocktails? SIGN US UP! A signature drink or two is a fun way to express your personalities in a beverage (alcoholic or not) that guests can enjoy throughout the reception. Work with your caterer or bartender to whip up a cocktail you love and then have some fun giving your new drink a name! We’ve seen couples do everything from naming their signature drinks after pets and vacation spots to naming them after their favorite sports teams. The name (and the drink) should be representative of you! Cheers : @vieraphotographics

Not sure where to begin when it comes to planning your wedding? We always recommend starting with the budget and guest list. Completing these two tasks will help you determine the size of your wedding and point you in the right direction in terms of vendors. After that, the venue should come next. This will likely be your biggest expense and most couples want their venue to be exactly what they’ve been envisioning for years. Still need help? We’ve got your back! Just get in t...ouch with us and we’ll be happy to set up a free consultation to discuss ALL the things regarding your wedding! : @jpelario : Winston Flowers : The Catered Affair : @icaboston

The bouquet of our dreams! While there are many different types of bouquets, here are our top 3 faves: Cascade - a waterfall of flowers. By using greenery and choice blooms, the bouquet gets a gorgeous tapering effect. This bouquet is meant to hang or drop down in front of the hand and form an upside-down teardrop shape, rounded at the top and forming a point at the bottom.... Round - Possibly the most well-known bouquet type, round bouquets are, of course, round in shape, having more flower blooms than greenery and being very harmonized and balanced. Hand Tied - these arrangements are a cluster of flowers hand-tied together with ribbon, giving the arrangement a casual look from the loose stems. @oliveandjunefloralco @rosannasondove

Time to sparkle for Danielle and John at the Adelphi Hotel! We cannot wait for these two love birds to tie the knot. It has been a wild ride planning, re-planning and re-planning some more, so happy to finally see their vision come to life. (You may recognize this lady from @Fleurtaciousdesigns! Always a florist and now the bride!)

Katie O' Weddings & Events 22.09.2020

It was so awesome to work alongside our friends at Total Events, LLC and Fleurtacious Designs for this collaboration. As you prepare to celebrate the holidays this year (as different as they might be) please consider adding some "sparkle" to your home. Support local business, create a special environment for family and friends and be forever grateful to have them at your table.

KOWE Tip Ask your caterer if they also do wedding cakes. Depending on the size and intricacies a wedding cake can be difficult to make. For this reason some caterers don’t offer the service, requiring you to consult a bakery. Find out if this is the case or not early so you can plan ahead and have enough time for cake tastings : @jpelario

Ever wondered why men wear boutonnieres? The tradition was born in Medieval times when, back then, many men were knights in shining armor (like ACTUALLY knights in shining armor) As a token of affection, a female admirer would give a knight something to wear into battle, like a scarf or flower. The color of the gift was almost always the same color as what the woman herself wore. The tradition was known as wearing a lady’s colors because of this. By sporting the gift, a kn...ight clearly showed he was supported in battle by a lady who adored him. Nowadays, the groom and his groomsmen wear boutonnieres to show their ties to the bride and bridal party. However, with all the options available for present-day couples, it is completely acceptable to go without a traditional flower boutonniere. : @the.ramsdens . . . #october #octoberwedding #octoberweddings #fallwedding #fallweddings #fallweddingdecor #fallweddinginspo #upstatewedding #nywedding #katieoevents #weddingplanner #weddingplanners #kowecouple #newyorkwedding #newyorkweddings #flashesofdelight #thehappynow #letsgetmarried #newlyengaged #weddingdeets #weddingdetails #couplegoals #octoberlove #fallengagement #moodywedding #upstatenewyork #albanynewyork #518 #saratogaspringsny
