This cow is super-sensitive so I know no one will give her a hard time because her paddle is upside-down.

Susan's Pleasant Pheasant Farm is a great place run by amazing people. They've always been very generous in letting people access and enjoy their private land. ...But for now, they're closed and they are not allowing people on their property. Please get the word out to anyone who might want to go there. See more

Troubling Times This is concerning and confusing to my wife and I. We love the mountains and enjoy our lake and property. Tourism is vital to this area. While I... was born in the old Margaretville Hospital and spent many years living in Manhattan, we traveled weekends to gain the benefits of better air, no huge crowds, less frenetic moments and closer ties to nature. We have been retired out of the city for a number of years now. Being in our young 70s with underlying health issues we are self quarantining. We are trying to decide if we should be doing the kayaking business this year. I spoke with my insurance agent for quite awhile today about the rising costs, inability to have enough help in the summer, employees health, extra cleaning and disinfecting of equipment and greeting all the guests. Last summer we were closed many days as I spent time recovering from health issues. 10 days ago I went to the emergency room and spent 3 days in the hospital. We are so fortunate to have that caring facility close by. Most of our customers are mix of second homeowners, tourists and a loyal local following. We have over 5000 followers on one of our social media accounts. I do our business as a passionate volunteer because I love seeing people enjoy our lake, hiking trails, swimming hole, wildlife and kayaks. The state and federal government are now is limiting the size of crowds. Many closings of restaurants, sporting events, recreational activities, etc. We fall under those guidelines. We have not yet officially opened this year. But many folks have started to walk on our property. Today a few car loads of people pulled in and just started walking down along our stretch of river. No permission, not inquiring just assuming it is a park. People often are on our front deck and sitting at our picnic tables not just on our trails. We will have to be closed for now but how do I communicate that to people who just assume it is pubic space. If they lift the ban on groups, should I lease the business and equipment to some other passionate people, hire a manager or shut it down for this year. So any advice from friends, neighbors and past customers would be appreciated. Thanks for listening and please be safe. -- Best wishes, james kelly Susan's Pleasant Pheasant Farm 1 Bragg Hollow Road, PO Box 126 Halcottsville, NY 12438 607-326-4266 www.KayakingNewYork.com Please "Like" us on Facebook at KayakingintheCatskills.com or Susan's Pleasant Pheasant Farm
