Sometimes, signs of a new season ahead may not be apparent and you have to search hard to find them. Today, however, spring is most definitely in the air as we happily feel the sun on our faces. As you walk along, be sure to look around for those telltale signs that remind us that the new season is here.

October 20th, 2020 Kendal at Ithaca COVID Update from Laurie Mante A brief update today: No new positive cases identified in residents or staff. Our current totals:... 3 residents are positive. All are stable at this time. 6 staff positive. I want to share that our screening process is working to identify potential risk. I’d also like to share some of our wonderful staff stories during this time: Dining Services has continued to provide meals while having 12 staff furloughed! Natalie and her team have worked many, many extra hours so that resident meal delivery is not impacted. Thankfully, we will start to see staff return to work at the end of this week. Thank you to Dining Staff for getting it done during a very challenging staffing situation! Read more here: https://kai.kendal.org/ne/covid-update-for-october-20-2020/

Update from Sunday, October 18 2020: Today we received two new positive diagnoses of staff. Both of these staff have been out of work for five days since they first exhibited symptoms, and both are at home and feeling better. We’ve received over 150 test results for staff in the last 24 hours so we are thankful there were no asymptomatic positives. We’ve also been receiving resident test results and have no new positives to report. We continue with an aggressive containm...ent strategy: Twice a week testing of all health center residents and all Kendal at Ithaca staff to identify asymptomatic cases quickly. Immediate isolation/quarantine and testing of any residents or staff who display symptoms. Complete closure of the campus to gatherings, activities, visitors and nonessential contractors or services. No communal dining or activities in the health center. Continued training and auditing on appropriate use of PPE among staff. See more
