Rehearsals for TIMEBOMB by Carson Kreitzer, our second New Play Development Workshop, are underway! Last night, we were joined by Jeffrey Lo, director of the Capital Stage production of ‘Vietgone’ and a number of #KitchenTheatre patrons for yet another installment of our #ScriptClubSeries. We discussed Qui Nguyen’s ‘Vietgone’, an American love story that may or may not be about Qui’s parents. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who attended for making this night of important kitchen conversation possible!

Our Script Club Series is back with Vietgone by QUI NGUYEN next week! Join us on Thursday, April 15th for a discussion facilitated by Jeffrey Lo who directed the Capital Stages production of Vietgone in 2019. In 1975, shortly after Saigon has fallen, we find ourselves in an American love story that may or may not be about Qui Nguyen's parents. Playwright Qui Nguyen tells a story about two Vietnamese survivors Quang and Tong who lost the people closest to them while escaping ...Saigon. After leaving, the two of them meet in an American refugee camp. While battling their inner struggles in an unfamiliar environment, will they find love with one another? We are happy to officially announce our next New Play Development Workshop! We are delighted to have up and coming playwright, Carson Kreitzer who most recently wrote the book and lyrics to the new musical 'Lempicka' at Williamstown Theatre Festival (2018) in residency with us! She’ll be workshopping her enthralling new play, TIMEBOMB, a comedy about the weight of climate change and activism on our daily lives. TIMEBOMB will be directed by local director and Cornell professor..., Beth F. Milles. APR 22 @ 7PM - Context Conversation with the cast, director, and subject matter experts: Cornell Professor Karim-aly Kassam and artist/activist Anne Rhodes. APRIL 27 @ 7PM - Design Presentation where we’ll pull back the curtain on the early stage design process with Scenic Designer Melpomene Katakalos & Sound Designer Andrew Mayer. APR 30 @ 7PM Join us on live on Zoom for a full reading of the play!

ANNOUNCING OUR OUTDOOR POP UP VENUE FOR THE WORLD PREMIERE OF SHAPE BY KARA-LYNN VAENI. KTC is excited to announce Washington Park as the performance space for the world premiere of SHAPE! Just two blocks away from the Kitchen Theatre on Washington St. in between Court St. and Buffalo St, we will be building a new pop up venue accommodating social distancing for our 98 seat theatre. Most of all, we are thrilled to premiere this hilarious new play in KTC’s home neighborhood in the West End. Tickets for SHAPE will be available on kitchentheatre.org soon. We can’t wait to return to bold live theatre and can’t wait for you to join us!
