Tavano told us this was a rental home damaged, and the house's tenant had been evaluated by Clyde Ambulance and is uninjured. It's believed the property owners are Robert and Lisa Cole. Extreme damage was done to the first floor; smoke and water damage on the second floor. No injuries to any EMS or firefighters, no injuries to the t...enant. Tavano said the fire was extinguished in roughly 30 minutes. The Rose and Magee fire departments responded to the scene, as did Wayne County ALS, Eastern Wayne EMS, and Clyde Ambulance. Work Begins on New $4.5 Million Sodus Community Health Center Neil Thompson A new $4.5 million Sodus Community Health Center is under construction on Ridge Road, Sodus.... The new center will have double the square footage of its current site in the medical arts building at the former Myers Community Hospital. The larger, new center will mean an expansion of the current center's 35 staff members. "We haven't determined an exact number, but we are doubling the exam rooms, which means we'll need more staff," Cathy Rubino Hines, chief marketing officer for Finger Lakes Community Health, told Lakeshore News. "This will allow Sodus to accept even more new patients when it opens in May 2019," stated a press release from Finger Lakes Community Health, the parent organization of Sodus Community Health. The current site serves about 5,000 patients, according to Hines. The new site will have expanded and new services. "We'll be expanding our current medical and dental services plus adding behavioral health," Hines said. Behavioral health will encompass substance abuse and behavioral health counseling services. The new center will allow Sodus Community Health to provide patient-centered team-based care, the press release states. Patients will have access to care coordination services, health insurance navigators, and state-of-the-art Telehealth services, which Finger Lakes Health says will allow patients to have video calls with specialists and providers without leaving the health center. Ground breaking for the new health center at 6341 Ridge Road, Sodus, was July 12. Present for the ceremony were Mary Zelazny, CEO of Finger Lakes Community Health, Dr. Tony Medicinio, Jr., Dental Director, Dr. Jose Canario, Medical Director, and Dr. Robert Shelly, lead physician at Sodus Community Health since 2001. The Sodus Community Health staff also attended. "The need for quality healthcare in the community is apparent as the number of patients we serve has grown significantly over the last few years. Sodus Community Health has been here for fifteen years and we are more committed than ever to the community with this new facility. We will continue to provide medical, dental, and behavioral health services in one location. Convenience is key for patients who need services," CEO Zelazny said. Finger Lakes Community Health is an independent healthcare organization founded in 1989 as a provider of healthcare for agricultural workers. Services are now expanded to provide comprehensive healthcare for everyone, with numerous health centers in the region, including Bath, Geneva, Newark, Ovid, Penn Yan, Port Byron, Sodus and Dundee Dental. Finger Lakes Community Health also administers a federal migrant voucher program, one of 22 in the U.S., to provide health services to farm workers in 42 Upstate New York counties.
