It is never a good thing to insult any type of martial arts because for anyone who have suffered through training to excel at their art knows that the student and not the art in most cases to blame.. Yet i would have to agree with some of the things said here. Traditional martial art is supposed to me a complete art involving all the qualities of MMA. The problem is that so many people never stay long enough in the style to learn the true power of the style instead they are h...appy with learning the pretty, flowery cool looking techniques which in most cases lack the power to be effective.. Another problem is that so many schools teach styles without fighting or combat principles because they fear students get hurt and wont come back to class or even sue the school... MMA is taking such a hold on the martial art world because it implements within its training the most basic approach to new students, the need for B,S,T (blood sweat and tears) to develop the true combat nature of the art and the fighting skill of the individual... No teacher worth anything will ever give away the essence of their arts to anyone who is not capable and has shown great sacrifice to advancement. The problem with this is that so many schools are being run by those who spend such little time developing their own skills that the basic essence needed is almost lost... I am not a fan of MMA i do not watch the matches but i will give the credit and respect to the training both physical and mental they endure. See more
