Many lawsuits targeting Clearview are based on the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). The cases have been clustered in the Southern District of New York and in the Chicago area, in both federal and state court.

In 2020 Zoom has sought additional counsel to handle the increased lawsuits. Cooley has many of the cases, and other firms like Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman also represent the company.
