Good Evening Copper Beech Family! As you all know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. On Monday, 10/26 and Tuesday, 10/27 we will recognize this by wearing Pink. Please wear pink (whether at home or in school) and post a photo of yourself with all of your pink spirit. Parents/Guardians: As a reminder, the fall administration of the Math STAR diagnostic assessment will take place tomorrow, Thursday, October 15th. Please remember the following: All students, both virtual and in-person will take the STAR assessment.... Students that are in school on 10/15/20 will take the assessment in school. Students who are remote (both 100% remote and Hybrid) on 10/15/20 will take it at home. To accommodate for the assessment, two class periods will be blocked together. Thursday, October 15th -Math STAR Assessment Gr. 6- Periods 8-9 Gr. 7- Periods 6-7 Gr. 8- Periods 7-8 Other than the administration of the STAR Assessment, there will be no additional instruction given during the assigned testing block above. As a reminder, Picture Day for our fully remote students will take place tomorrow, November 18th. Students can check in at the front desk any time between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM. Only students will be permitted in the building. Parents/Guardians may wait for the students at the front desk. If you choose to have your child's picture taken on 11/18, class period absences will be excused. Please email your child's teacher prior to the missed class period. Pictures do not need to be ordered before or even on Picture Day. They can be ordered afterwards. The most important thing is to get a picture taken. If your child is coming in to have their photos taken tomorrow, they will be given their materials upon arrival. Otherwise, you may stop in at any other time through Tuesday. 7th and 8th grade pickup will be done on a future date. IV. Annually, the Lakeland Central School District conducts an Emergency Management Early Dismissal Drill to provide practice to staff and students in case of an emergency. This year Lakeland has scheduled the drill for Tuesday, November 24th. Students will be dismissed 15 minutes early allowing the building to practice their evacuation procedures. V. Tech Support LCBMS has created a "Technology Help" page which is updated on an ongoing basis to assist students families navigate technological obstacles throughout the year. The page includes a password reset form, frequently asked questions, as well as multiple links to support the navigation of Google classroom. Good Evening Copper Beech, As was explained in the communication sent out by Dr. Lyons earlier today, LCBMS will be on fully remote instruction for Thursday and Friday, October 8 and 9. The STAR administration that was scheduled for tomorrow will be rescheduled for Thursday, October 15th. All students are to attend remotely on this Thursday and Friday following their regular schedule. An updated testing schedule for the STAR Assessment will be sent out next week. Good Evening, We are excited to welcome our hybrid students back to the school building tomorrow, September 24th for students in Cohort A, and Friday, September 25th for students in Cohort B. Please remember that our doors will open at 9:25 am and students are not to be dropped off prior to 9:20 am. We strongly encourage that students utilize our bus transportation to and from school. Students are to arrive to school wearing a mask and will need to have a Covid Screener comp...leted by their parent/guardian in hand as they enter the building. As they enter their designated entrance, students will show the staff member the form completed and place it in the designated box. Students who do not have the Covid Screener completed will be escorted to the cafeteria and have a parent/guardian called to complete the screener by phone. They will also need to receive a temperature check from the Nurse or a staff member. The student will not be permitted back into class until this all is completed. Homeroom periods will be slightly longer on Thursday and Friday as we will conduct orientation, locker assignment, tours and some first day of in-person housekeeping. There may be more asynchronous work on these days for our remote only students and students that are not in school on the opposite of the letter day.
