Each year, the district conducts an Emergency Early Dismissal Drill to provide practice to staff and students in case of an emergency dismissal. This year, LHS will hold this drill on Tuesday, November 24th. On this day, students will be dismissed 15 minutes early (1:26 pm) allowing the building to practice our evacuation procedures. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this emergency drill.

Tomorrow, (11/3) is Election Day. It doesn’t matter which candidate you support, what matters, is that you get to exercise your right to vote. Your vote is your voice.

COMMUNITY UPDATE: November 1, 2020 Lakeland Families,... We learned early this morning that a staff member from Vancortlandtville Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. Acting Principal Frank Yanoti has been working with district staff this morning to prepare lists of potential contacts. Any staff or students indicated as a potential contact will be informed today of their quarantine requirements. While we have identified a small number of students who were contacts we have unfortunately identified a larger than typical number of staff who are implicated. As a result, though we are able to open the building again tomorrow for hybrid instruction for most students, the following classes will need to move to remote instruction until Monday, November 16th: Ms. Higgins Ms. Pantoliano Ms. Angelillo Ms. Catania Mr. Hersh Ms. Lachowicz Ms. Emmanuele (3rd Grade) This event will not impact voting on Tuesday, November 3rd, nor will it affect the scheduled board meeting Thursday, November 5th. As we discuss this latest news about COVID-19 in our community we ask that you please be mindful as you begin planning for the holidays and seasonal breaks coming up. As families seek to gather together to celebrate, the COVID-19 Travel Advisory continues to evolve. It is crucial that we all remain especially cautious during this holiday season to continue all our precautions, mask wearing, frequent hand washing, and limited gatherings. Be well and stay safe. Brendan Lyons, Ed. D. Superintendent

Students who wish to return to the hybrid model must communicate with Mr. Cummings prior to returning to school. This communication is required so that we can lessen the distraction it has in the classroom.
