Stay informed -- if you are involved with a nonprofit that is at all reliant on government funding -- make sure you have the facts on what is proposed to be cut under the new budget. Remember also -- there's typically a double hit -- funding goes down, while client needs go up. It won't just be your organization but ALL the other organizations in your field who are impacted. We are seeing an uptick in donations and volunteering for many nonprofits, but typically to higher profile organizations. If you don't already -- make sure you have a good understanding of what gaps you will have, and a clear plan to communicate the urgent needs to volunteers and donors.

There is so much of this happening at the moment --- scary times, but here's a big thank you to all the amazing volunteers and givers in this world.
