Proceed...s benefit the Chamber Train Car, the Flag fund and Community Beautification. Woo Hoo! Don't be alarmed by yellowing needles on your evergreens this time of year. Conifers and other evergreens, like Hollies, will drop their excess needles/leaves i...n the fall just like deciduous species. These tend to be the older needles further back on the stems and branches that would eventually be shaded out in many situations anyway. Besides this reason, they also drop their leaves to reduce moisture loss in the dry, windy conditions of the winter months as well as lessening the amount of energy needed to sustain there excess needles through the winter.
