LT resident Lorraine Dorsey recently shared her "Hug Somebody" Split Pea Soup recipe in the Lenox Terrace newsletter. We can't wait to make this, Lorraine! Ingredients: 1lb rinsed Goya dry green split peas ... 1 pkg. smoked turkey wings (6-8 pieces) 1 medium onion, 2 garlic cloves, 3 carrots all diced and sauteed in olive oil 1 tsp dill weed 1 tbsp onion powder 1 tbsp cumin powder 1 tbsp cayenne pepper 2 pkgs of chicken bouillon or 2 cubes 3 tbsp Pickapeppa Sauce (to taste) 3/4 cup Taylor's Crème Sherry (and a glass for yourself, trust me, you will be more huggable) Directions: Boil turkey pieces for 2 hours in a steep pot with 6 cups of water (add more as needed). Strain the broth or keep the turkey in the pot. Add sauteed onions, garlic, and carrots and all spices. Then add chicken bouillon, crème sherry, and Pickapeppa sauce. Cook slow and low for 2 hours. Serves 6. Eat. Enjoy. And hug somebody!
