LERA designed new multi-level stairs that were incorporated into the post-tensioned concrete building by creating cutouts into the floor levels. The design of the space required the installation of two sets of stairs. The first stair connects two floors and the second stair connects three floors. At the Fifth floor, the ceilings from slab-to-slab measure over 20-ft, allowing for ample ceiling height and longer spans on the stairs. The project achieved LEED Gold certification. Dr. Jang was completing his doctorate at Lehigh University on September 11, 2001. The tragic events of that day inspired him to take on a special responsibility as a structural engineer.
