LEWISBORO TOWN PARK POND SKATING UPDATE: AND WE MADE IT! We are safe to skate at the Lewisboro Town Park Pond. The green yes you can skate signs and green flags are posted and indicate the pond is cleared and ready for skaters. ... Our Parks department will be checking the ice daily during the weekdays. Clearing of the ice from the snow and ice checks were done this afternoon by our staff. Multiple holes were drilled through the ice in all areas that skaters could access, and we have hit the 7-inch mark. There was a bit of water on top of the ice but that should freeze overnight to make for a smooth surface tomorrow and the weekend. We will keep you up to date as we check the ice daily on the status of the Pond.

REPOSTING DUE TO AN INCIDENTIAL CROPPING OF THE PICTURE. Sorry Tejas and Chris. We are so grateful for these young men and now Eagle Scouts from Vista Troop 101. Their Court of Honor was held on Sunday, January 9th. ... The Town of Lewisboro and its residents will benefit from their projects for a very long time! THANK YOU, GENTLEMEN! From left to right is the scout's name, location of their project and brief description of their project: Tejas Chimata: Onatru East Side Trail - Interpretive signage of trees on the East Trail at Onatru Farm. Clearing and removing hanging branches, overgrowth and leaning trees. He also built a brand new, sturdy and beautiful foot bridge to cross a water way, new log benches and repaired existing ones. Built a larger kiosk which can be found right in from of the comfort station at Onatru. Ryan Parker: Onatru Farm Park - Ryan created a game area at which includes two sets of corn hole, a horseshoe pit, two benches, a lending library for all to enjoy and perennial garden border along the stonewall. All equipment is accessible to enjoy at your leisure. Jack O'Reilly - Love Preserve - Mr. O'Reilly created a new trail for usage at the Westchester Land Trust Property as well as removed an existing one. His project also included erosion controls and a small kiosk. Logan Aceste - Various Town of Lewisboro owned Parks and Preserves - Logan constructed and installed a dozen bat houses to help bring the bat population back in Lewisboro. He also researched the importance of bats in our ecosystem which was included in his presentations to the various Town Boards while going through the approval process. Seth Samuelson Vista Park - Seth spent a lot of time and fundraised quite a bit to renovate the baseball dugouts at Vista Park Field. This included leveling the areas of the dugouts and bleacher areas, laying down gravel to prevent overgrowth and installing canopy coverage over both the dugouts to keep players safe from the sun and foul balls. Christopher Castellon - Onatru Reservation (Onatru West) - Mr. Castellon built probably one of the safest, well-constructed structures in town. His project too, took a lot of time, planning and fundraising but will leave a LONG-LASTING lean-to for many scouts to enjoy for a long time to come to camp out in, to hold gatherings in and near as well as other town groups and organizations to utilize. If you haven't seen it - it is truly worth the walk to find it. Photo credit goes to Sharon Scanlan.

A few friendly reminders regarding our four legged family members. A) All dogs must be licensed if residing in the Town of Lewisboro (even if you are fostering a dog or a have a canine for a guest for more than 2 weeks). B) On Town Owned Properties (parks, preserves, office properties) - your canine must be leashed and picked up after. . . It is the Law. ... And if you need a Top 10 List as to why you should leash your dog . . . we are going to give it a whirl . . . 10. It is so much easier to keep an eye on your dog so if they make a mess you can clean it up. 9. Your puppy will be so much cleaner if they are leashed instead of finding all the mud puddles and tick havens 8. If your dog is leashed there will be no chance of Fido getting lost or worst yet, hurt. 7. Lowers the possibility for a fight . . . a canine clash or an owner melee 6. Not everyone is a dog lover. . . people have allergies, anxieties over dogs, children have fears of them and some humans are just not nice. 5. Animals can be unpredictable . . . so it lessens the chance of your dog biting someone or something. 4. Our wildlife will thank you for it (they will be safer and calmer) 3. A better chance of your pooch not eating something that could be toxic to them. And a great safety measure to stop the spread of disease between dogs. THINK SOCIAL DISTANCING. 2. Greetings and Salutations A dog that is on a leash and goes to greet another leashed dog, the canines are usually on good behavior. They know their moms and/or dads are close, and they’ll sniff to say hi. If there’s a hint of aggression, you can quickly pull your dog away and defuse the situation. AND THE #1 REASON TO KEEP YOU DOG ON A LEASH (Drum Roll please . . . . ) 1. NO ACCIDENTIAL BREEDING . . .

The Lewisboro Garden Club has been busy - beautifying our town with holiday swags . . we love it! The Lewisboro Garden Club has a tradition of hanging swags on all of the white wooden signs as you enter Lewisboro and many of the signs for town buildings, parks and preserves. The tradition began many years ago with members of the Garden Club gathering the materials from the woods in the area. Bows were made, boughs wired and then the swags were hung. This year, in order to... protect club members during this pandemic, almost 40 decorated swags were donated by Jenn and Peter Cipriano of Copia Home & Garden. The decorated swags were recently hung on signs from Vista to Goldens Bridge by members of the Lewisboro Garden Club. The Lewisboro Garden Club greatly appreciate the thoughtfulness, generosity and holiday spirit of the Cipriano Family. AND THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE CIPRIANO FAMILY AND THE LEWISBORO GARDEN CLUB FOR MAKING THE TOWN LOOK SO FESTIVE. IN OUR EYES YOU ALL ARE SO GENEROUS AND THOUGHTFUL! THANK YOU!
