I love this apartment I designed for my South African clients’ pied-a-terre in midtown Manhattan. The views are incredible, and the spire on the Chrysler building seems to hover inches away outside. Mostly the well-detailed blank slate we designed for a revolving collection of great art. Looking through the lens I learn so much about design when thinking about space in a certain way. Everything we do as designers and architects is shown to the world in two-dimensions. I’m struck by the simplicity of this rendering for the dining area for our clients near New Paltz, NY. It reminded me that our design philosophy creates spaces for people to enjoy life: A LIFE THEATRE. People are always the original ingredient to every design. This holiday season the places and spaces we create to inspire community psychically, spiritually, and physically will be somewhat fractured due to the current pandemic. I really enjoy cooking and the sharing of ...food. It’s in my DNA and in my friends and clients. In order to show love in the long term, we must endure separation in the short term. We need time to heal and focus on the health of all of those around us.
