The Lighthouse is getting geared up to have another exciting spring & summer Free youth program! Sadly most of the kids & teens who come to the mission each day are from very challenged communities. Gang influence, illegal drugs, violence, the sound of gun fire and extreme poverty are sadly normal parts of their daily lives. The Mission works hard to take the kids away from all of that & get them into Gods creation, let them be kids and share with them that they can trust Je...sus. Kayaking, mountain biking, cycling, paddle boarding, hiking, summer camps, etc. Please consider praying for Lighthouse Mission and these young people that we will have the resources available to make these Free programs possible. Its Good Friday, almost 3pm so I thought I would just read the Bible (Matthew 26 & 27) We have never seen so many people in need of food, so many scared, so many people who dont know what or who to believe, they have lost hope. Just over the past 2 weeks nearly 5000 people have attended Lighthouse Mission’s daily food outreaches in search of food, clothing & bible baskets.... EVERYONE WAS BLESSED with food bur MOST IMPORTANTLY, heard the GOOD NEWS of JESUS & their lives have been forever changed... We have been so busy serving the poor and preaching the gospel of Jesus, we did not have the time or funds to set up a formal camera, sermon, sound equipoment, etc. BUT Pastor Jim was able to read the Word of God / the Bible & to pray. 600+ Bible Baskets given away & hundreds more to go.. Two more days of handing out Bible Baskets to hurting families during Lighthouse Mission’s daily food distributions. So far Lighthouse volunteers were able to give away 600 baskets filled with candy, stuffed animals, coloring books and best of all the children’s Bible! ... Please pray to the God of the Bible that we will have enough to meet the need over the next few days. Does Lighthouse Mission give out food & clothing on windy days like today?... YES!! It sure is windy here on Long Island while the Mission is handing out food. Empty boxes were flying around & someone even lost their hat! everyone laughed & we found the hat :-) No matter what the weather may be doing outside the Lighthouse Mission will go each day to bring food and more importantly the good news of JESUS to thousands of Long Islanders each week.
