Latest Update (6/4/20) on Town Summer Programs

This morning the Town released the following disappointing announcements regarding Summer events. The Town is considering any alternatives for Summer Camps and are discussing options with community partners. The Town will release more information about the camps next week. TOWN OF CLIFTON PARK TO POSTPONE SUMMER EVENTS Fireworks Celebration and Pool Openings to be Rescheduled for Later in Year... Due to the COVID-19 situation, the Town of Clifton Park has made the following changes to the Town’s Summer schedule of events, activities, and programs. The three municipal pools traditionally open Memorial Day Weekend each year. The opening date for the pools this Summer has been postponed to July 1st. As the new opening date approaches, the Town will assess the viability of opening the pools for the remainder of the Summer. The annual Fourth of July festivities will be postponed. The Town will tentatively have a firework show on the evening of September 5th. The annual parade is also under consideration for September 5th. As Labor Day weekend approaches the Town will assess the viability of having the fireworks show. The two June musical performances previously scheduled to be held at the Clifton Common Stage featuring the Clifton Park Community Chorus and The Accents respectively have been cancelled. The Town is currently reviewing the possibility of holding Full Day Summer Camp, Half Day Summer Camp, and the many specialty camps offered annually. No decision has been made at this time. New York State has designated Recreation as part of Phase Four of the reopening of the State. The New York State Department of Health has been unable to provide guidance regarding permits and approvals necessary to legally open the pools, host a large-scale event on Clifton Common or operate Town Camps. Therefore, it is not prudent to continue preparations for opening the pools or July 4th festivities, when it is becoming more apparent the odds of either occurring as scheduled is a very slight possibility. Summer camps are not scheduled to begin until the end of June. The Town is considering various options and will have further information by the end of next week. The Town has a limited amount of time to sign a contract with the company that performs the fireworks display on July 4th. If the fireworks display does not occur after signing the contract, the Town would incur a financial loss. As of today, the odds of the Town being able to hold the event are minimal. Based on financial commitments that need to be made and the large amount of preparations involved, it is imperative a decision be made now. This announcement is a gut-wrenching message for us to deliver. However, we have no choice, said Town Supervisor Barrett. We are hopeful opening the pools and a Town celebration involving fireworks is possible this year, but we cannot guarantee that will be reality.

Applications are now open for Summer jobs at the three Town Pools and Town Summer Camps

Due to today's (8/21/19) inclement weather and the forecast for additional thunderstorms throughout the day and evening Locust Lane Pool will not be opening today. Thank you for your understanding.

Due to continuing power outages from last night's storm, Locust Lane Pool will not be opening today, July 29th. Barney Road Pool and Country Knolls Pool are open today with normal hours.

Due to the unseasonable weather today (5/28/19) Locust Lane Pool will not be opening. Thank you for your understanding.

Due to a power outage Locust Lane Pool will be closed for the remainder of the day. (Tuesday August 7th)

Our Town lifeguards don't take the Holiday off. They're all working hard today to keep you safe while you enjoy and cool off in one of our three Town pools. Barney Road and Locust Lane are open till 6:00 pm today while Country Knolls will be open until 8:30 pm.

The pool will be open from Noon to 6:00 pm on the Fourth of July. Due to the implementation of traffic and safety measures near the Common, Barney Road and Locust Lane Pools will close earlier than Country Knolls. The Town Board wishes everyone a safe and fun celebration of America and hope you enjoy the pools during the warm weather on the 4th.
