Dear Friends, We have decided to retire The Lodge Gallery. Our current exhibition will be the final exhibition presented as "The Lodge." These past five years have been exhilarating, and our experiences surpassed every expectation that we had when first setting out. We've held 50 exhibitions, and have had the honor of working with hundreds of the finest artists, curators, institutions, and organizations in existence. We have welcomed tens of thousands of visitors through our ...doors, and have delighted in conversations with friends old and new. We are ever so grateful for your support, and for your friendship. Everything has a lifespan, and things change over time. As an endeavor, The Lodge Gallery has simply run its course. It has achieved everything that we had hoped it would, and then some. As co-directors, Jason and I have moved in different directions over the years, with increasingly different interests. With the wind still strong in our sails, we've decided to end this journey together, gracefully and with joy. Our current exhibition will remain on view through February 4th. I will continue my work with David&Schweitzer Contemporary, and with my ongoing personal projects. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or messages. Yours Truly, Keith Schweitzer The Lodge Gallery, Owner/Director

One of the politico-monstrous 'rogues' in "Rogues Gallery: Monsters, Villains & Hellbent Politicians," Thai artist Tawan Wattuya's current solo show at The Lodge Gallery. Come on in for a closer look at around 50 of these brilliantly, terrifyingly colorful creeps. Just like elections, the works are available for purchase, and they're priced to go! Ask us for a deal on some art, and we'll show you the art of the deal. There's a catalogue as well, featuring an essay in English and Thai by Paul D'Agostino. Exhibition runs through February 4th. @thelodgegallery #thelodgegallery #thaiartist #tawanwattuya #soloshow #roguesgallery #monsters #villains #politicians #painting #watercolor #DonaldTrump #Trump

reception photos by apiwich bangrapimolpong ++ Tawan Wattuya... "Rogues Gallery: Monsters, Villains & Hellbent Politicians" January 10th, 2018 February 4th, 2018 Opening Reception: Wednesday, January 10th, 7pm-9pm The Lodge Gallery is proud to present Rogues Gallery: Monsters, Villains & Hellbent Politicians, Tawan Wattuya’s first solo exhibition in the United States. Before you are so many faces you've seen so many times before. You recognize some of them. You might recognize most of them. It's unlikely for you to recognize all of them, for some of them have facial features that have shape-shifted in certain ways that leave them partly morphed if not gradually, strangely ever-morphing into arguably more monstrous, more horrid, more day-glow lurid, or simply weirder versions of themselves via physiognomic hybridizations with the visages of others of kindredly villainous ilk. They are a rogues gallery of proverbial good, bad and ugly, albeit by and large lacking any and all good. - Excerpt from Paul D'Agostino's essay in exhibition catalogue. Tawan Wattuya was born in 1973 in Bangkok, Thailand, where he currently lives and works. He is known primarily for his vibrantly colorful and expressive paintings in watercolor and ink, and for choosing often politically relevant, sometimes controversial subject matter. His international exhibition record of solo shows, group shows and art fairs is extensive, and his paintings are held in many collections. He was one of the artists in a two-person show at The Lodge Gallery in 2016, and he has had work in recent exhibitions at Sundaram Tagore, in New York City, and at Saatchi Gallery, in London. In Thailand, Wattuya has exhibited at Toot Yung Art Center, The Art Center of Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok Art & Cultural Center (BACC), HOF Art Gallery, WTF Gallery, Tang Contemporary Art, Gallery D-9, Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art Center, and Numthong Gallery. He has also shown in a number of galleries in Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Australia and France.
