A view of the Larsen archives...textiles galore! It is sometimes mind blowing to look through LH founder Jack Lenor Larsen's work and realize how it has shaped the world of design for decades. Curator Wendy Van Deusen oversees the collection - a labor of love indeed!
There's something strangely hypnotic about watching the irrigation lines get blown out by our friends at RB Irrigation and watch it we did! Thanks RB!
We are grateful for each and every guest that visits LongHouse, especially during these challenging times of COVID-19. We are proud that we are able to offer an art-filled and peaceful space that is both restorative and inspiring. Please consider a donation today, Giving Tuesday, or any time during this holiday season to the LongHouse Annual Appeal: https://bit.ly/2KZz6JR. Help support our public programs, educational initiatives and our unique blend of Art in the Gardens. Your support, in any amount, is deeply appreciated. Thank you!
"Crimson and gold is a terrible color combination" ...said no gardener ever... The LongHouse gardens are really strutting their autumn stuff these days. Just a few spots left in our November Garden Walk this Saturday at 2:30pm, get tickets for a colorful weekend outing: https://bit.ly/3mXue5K.
Ai Weiwei's "Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads: Bronze" is an exhibition for all seasons! Visit us this month and see them in their late fall colors.
The view near the Red Garden on Saturday. Today's wind may bring a different view tomorrow!
We've got some really good listeners in the garden should you feel the need to unwind and connect with art and nature. Open Wednesdays through Saturdays. Tickets - https://bit.ly/2YIwMdx

We wanted to give a special shout out to this child who was inspired enough by the art at LongHouse Reserve that he came as a sculpture! He recreated Yoan Capote's "In Transit" complete with suitcase!
Woooo our first Halloween celebration was so much fun, we're ready to do it again! Thank you to all who visited yesterday, many in fabulous costumes. We have been smiling ear to ear ever since! Thank you to our staff and volunteers as well as Fowler's Garden Center and Pam Healy for the gorgeous plant materials to make the most perfect Halloween setting. Find more photos on our website blog here: https://bit.ly/3jRStQB.

Wishing everyone a joyful and carefree weekend! Leave the world behind for a little while and dance to the music if the spirit moves you like our friends the Brooklyn Peaches at our Summer Benefit a few years ago
Dahlia Day with Frances Palmer was so much fun! The flowers, including a dazzling array of dahlias, were swoon worthy. We have uploaded videos of the author's talk and flower arranging workshop to our blog; check them out here: https://bit.ly/3e9O8al. Thank you to our guests who joined us for this delightful afternoon!
Although our INstore is closed for the season, you can still shop online! These paper vases are always popular at LongHouse and make a stylish, affordable gift. Just add a vessel (water bottle, glass, etc) with flowers, slide the paper vase over top of it and you have an instant room brightener! Find these paper vases here on our website: https://bit.ly/37VU6e5
"The earth is what we all have in common." Wendell Berry . This quote came to mind when we saw Grace Knowlton's beautiful sculpture, "Untitled" in the Dry River Garden today that reminded us of our global sphere. Take some time to appreciate Mother Earth today
Have you art forayed with us at LongHouse? This is the last week to join the fun with this wildly popular activity. LongHouse Art Foray, created and curated by LH friend Scott Bluedorn, features nine small artworks hidden on the grounds of LongHouse just for the month of October. If you find one, two or all of them, take a photo and upload it to social media with the hashtag #longhouseartforay and you will be entered into a drawing on October 31 to win the sculpture. You can also email us your images at [email protected]. Pictured here is Scott's "Crane" before he tucked it away at LongHouse, teehee. Come, look, play and art foray! Get tickets to visit here: https://bit.ly/2YIwMdx.
It is very rare that Halloween falls on an Open Day at LongHouse but look at us this year! There is nothing cuter than kids in costume, so we invite you and your family to come to LongHouse in your Halloween finest! We mean, you don't have to come as Chihuly and a sculpture, but we sure would love to see your outfits! We will have Hand in Hand Treasure Hunts for some family fun, and each child will get a pre-packed Halloween treat bag to take home before they leave. We will also have a little fall festive backdrop for family photos too. Enjoy art in the gardens and have a little fun :). Visits are by timed-ticket reservations ONLY; get your tickets here: https://bit.ly/2YIwMdx. And remember kids always receive free admission to LongHouse, thanks to our wonderful contributors!
When life hands you lemons.... pick them ! Our citrus trees are enjoying their last days in the great outdoors. Soon the garden crew will move them into LongHouse for the winter. Check them out near the Scree Garden behind the house. Wishing everyone a happy and restful weekend..make some time for yourself and breathe. Come walk in the gardens if you need a break.
