HELP LOCAL BUSINESSES The Long Islander reduced our rates and are raising money to help local merchants and restaurants bounce back faster. If your local newspaper is the lifeblood of a community, then advertisers are the lifeblood of the local newspaper. ... The COVID-19 virus has decimated our retailers and our restaurants in the Town of Huntington. Whether they are getting ready to reopen, or are struggling with curbside deliveries, they need the support of the community. There is an old saying, when times are good you should advertise. When times are bad you must advertise. Unfortunately, when you are struggling to survive, the advertising budget is the easiest to eliminate, but in the long-term, it will be the most destructive. In this light, we at the Long Islander have decided to be proactive. To help individual retailers and restaurateurs advertise and keep the 182-year-old newspaper strong, The Long Islander will reduce the cost of advertising space from now until June 30, 2020. Please help fund the advertising dollars that will help our town merchants and restaurants come back faster.
During this difficult time, complimentary past issues of the Long Islander newspapers are available at our office for anyone interested in catching up on local news, getting to know our paper better, or just enjoy some crossword puzzles to pass the time. We have placed the last 5 weeks of papers (4/16/2020 and earlier) in a brown bin under the outside staircase at our offices at the Colony Workplaces at 133 New York Avenue located in Halesite across from TK's Galley. We invite you go out for a drive, stop by and take a paper or two on us!
