Lost Trail Snowmobile Club 09.01.2021

We panned up to cville today, as well as the town loop and part of the towpath. Trails should be flat because of the low snow. The port Leyden trail is open, but only into boonville. No connection yet onto Turin r.r. They will wait to open that when conditions improve. We want people that have homes and camps on that trail to be able to ride into boonville. Please respect the clubs and most importantly, the landowners.

Update on our bridge work on trail C4E This past weekend we replaced the bridge that had washed away. New Years Day our crew, and others put a trailer in place. We still have to put a deck on which will be getting done this week and pictures will be posted! THANK YOU to all that have helped us, we sure needed that. Thank you to our members at Lost Trail, Trackside TrailBlazers (Ron, Dennis, Mark, and Aaron), and thank you to everyone that reached out with offers and suggest...ions! Shoutout to our other neighbors at Southern TugHill and Turin Ridge Riders for their continued help and offers. We are truly blessed to be apart of such a great organization. A huge shoutout to Clinton Tractor for the use of their equipment on short notice as well! Pictures will be uploaded as soon as we deck this bridge! In the meantime lets all hope for snow and to get out riding! If anyone still needs a last minute membership voucher don't hesitate to message us here on facebook, join our club online, or give Becka a call! (315-941-1168) As always we appreciate the support! See you all on the trails!

Good morning. Groomers are out right now. We are panning some trails. All connections to west Leyden are open. Please ride safely, as there will be many hidden hazards on the trail. West Leyden trail may still have some water holes on it, we will work on them.please check with our connecting clubs to be sure they are open too.stop into the business in town and enjoy the riding!

Good morning. Lost trail club is happy to announce that the towpath, c7b, and the white lake trail, c7c, are open. We will be grooming these trails.they are flat, but thin. Forestport has some trails open, they are grooming between white lake and Forestport. Keep in mind, all other trails remain closed at this time due to no low snow and water issues. With this cold weather and snow possibly on the way, that could change quickly.

Update on the bridge that was lost on the 24th. We salvaged the deck this morning and will get the poles back in a couple of days. We’re still looking for the right trailer frame for this location. We will have a bridge back here by the weekend, or shortly after. More updates to follow. Also we would like to thank everyone who has contacted the club or me, with offers of materials and manpower. We’re lucky to have such great friends and neighbors.

Lewis County Department of Motor Vehicles is kindly asking everybody that rides snowmobiles during the winter months to start renewing/registering for 2021 now. If you haven’t received a renewal yet, or are registering a snowmobile for the first time this can also be done through mail/drop box with the DMV. https://adirondackstughill.us3.list-manage.com/track/click

Thank you so much, chuck, Daniel, Ricky,Carl and jim. For getting another bridge rebuilt for the winter. Without these volunteers along with the landowners, there is no club. I’m fortunate to have such loyal friends to help our club keep our trails safe. Thank you guys.also thanks Dave for getting some materials, and Rebecka for the breakfast at the barn, your are the best.

This is why EVERY Snowmobilier is So Important to their club and to register the snowmobiles!!! Some Important Information from NYSSA There has been a lot of conjecture about what trail funding will look like this season. The following is a statement from NYSSA President Rosanne Warner:... Since May of 2020, there has been a State Division of Budget (DOB) directive that all local assistance grants will be subjected to a 20% hold back. This directive from DOB has upset all entities which receive local assistance from NY state. From the time this directive was issued, NYSSA, its Government Affairs Committee, and Park Strategies (our lobbyist) have been in contact with DOB regarding grants which support the maintenance of the trail system. In relation to the 30% payments which are in the process of being paid now, we were able to successfully point out to DOB that the funding comes from a dedicated account which is solely funded by the registrations paid by snowmobilers and that this fund has ample revenue to support the program. In the end, the 30% submissions were paid in full. No decision has been made on the 70% funding which is scheduled to go out in December. As December approaches, Parks will prepare the state aid calculations that will determine what each sponsor and club will receive. NYSSA will make the case that the trail fund has sufficient revenue in it to support the entire 2020-21 program and that fully funding the program will jump start the winter economy. As every other outdoor recreational activity has seen an increase in participation, NYSSA anticipates greater interest in snowmobiling within the state as participants will look for staycations and travel to Canada is likely to be restricted. It is important that our trail infrastructure be well maintained so that our trails are as safe as they can be to support the increase in use. Considering that clubs have very limited ability to raise money at club fundraisers, the only avenue they can turn to is the state assistance they receive from snowmobile registrations. NYSSA has been successful with the 30%, and we will do our very best to be successful with protecting this year’s funding.
