Arcadia, Galen, Lyons and Savannah. Yates County All towns The heart of our training is our Inside Apprenticeship Program. It is a regimented 5-year training program that assures competency in the standardized skills needed to be an electrician. Upon the completion of the program, our apprentices go to work armed with skills that put them at the top of their field. In fact, it's because of this highly advanced training program that IBEW Local 840 is able provide its contractors with the best trained electricians in the electrical industry. As part of our commitment to fostering equity in our movement and ensuring our leadership reflects its membership, the New York State AFL-CIO Social Justice Task Force has proposed, and the Executive Council has approved, providing Union L.E.A.D. (Leadership Equity and Development) scholarships for the Cornell Union Leadership Institute.
