Lynbrook Police Department Community Outreach

Officer Gucciardo was dispatched to a call for youths skateboarding. As he was speaking to the youths, he learned that they had something in common, a shared likeness for football. Officer Gucciardo took this opportunity to interact with the youths and took out his newly donated football to have a catch. Shortly after parting ways the department received a call from one of the youth’s father, who wanted to let them know that his son came home glowing after he had the catch with the Officer and wanted to thank him. We at the Lynbrook Police Department recognize that interactions with the police are often portrayed negatively, we want to change the view of police and build stronger bonds with the community and keep this positive energy going.

Above video, is Lynbrook Police Officer Cobucci, who while on patrol stopped to shoot some hoops with some youths from our community. Although hard to see the joy on the youths faces, a resident captured this moment on video and sent it to Chief Paladino to show him what his officers are doing when no one is watching. Such a small gesture like this is what our country needs right now, building relationships that are bound by trust and respect. #helpushelpyou
