Interested in learning about changes in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that was recently signed by the President? Make sure to check out your January edition of Grassroots for a breakdown of the changes made to the tax code, including creating a single 21% flat rate for business taxes and increases the standard deduction and changes the tax brackets for individual filers. In addition, it should be noted that although section 199 has been repealed, the tax reform package allows ...cooperative members to claim a new 20 percent deduction on payments from a farmer cooperative. Further, cooperatives would be able to claim the 20% deduction on gross income less payments to patrons. This is believed to help offset the loss of section 199.
