Hurricane Sandy Eighth Anniversary October 29, 2020, marks the eighth anniversary of Hurricane Sandy. This day marks a time to reflect upon the rebuilding efforts and prepare for future events. NYCEM continues to conduct ongoing education as well as to provide mitigation actions to build community resilience against future flooding. If you are having a Hurricane Sandy memorial or remembrance event and would like NYCEM to attend, please provide the details as soon as possible to our team. NYC CERT: Recruiting for 2020 Virtual Training New York City Community Emergency Response Teams (NYC CERT) is now recruiting for 2020 training. NYC CERT are teams of dedicated volunteers who help to prepare their neighbors and communities for different types of disasters. Members undergo a training program that provides basic response skills needed for fire safety, light search and rescue, community disaster support, disaster medical operations, and traffic control.
