When the Bollywood and Indian themed restaurant Masala Times in NYC asked us to design a takeaway menu, the inner gossip writer in us sat up, grinning with excitement. Perhaps this was our chance to fulfill our dreams of covering juicy scandals from the Indian film industry. Apna time aayega? It certainly seemed to. ... The name of the restaurant was appropriate for a tabloid already. The New York Times, this wasn't. And what can we say, the stories just wrote themselves - from rumours about the Holy Grail of casting - all 3 Khans in 1 film - to an expose on Bollywood's finest scriptwriter who turned out to be a monkey with a penchant for writing melodramas. The tabloid even featured a helpful guide for Americans to understand Bollywood cinema, explaining the meaning behind the Maas and Dishooms.
