One of the first plagues that took place in Islam was before the Prophethood of Hizqil (Ezekiel)the ayat 243 in Surah Al-Baqarah Allah saids: Have you not seen... those who fled their habitations in thousands for fear of death, Allah said to them: Perish! and then He brought them back to life. Surely! Allah is bountiful to mankind, but most men do not give thanks. The Prophet Ezekiel (ra) passed by these graves he was astounded by this sight. According to the majority of Islamic commentators, the place was called Dawardaan, was a town where the plague happened many left the town. Most of those remained died those who left the town were unharmed the great scholar Allaama Baghawi (Ra) says, that number of those who died variate. He saids the figure of up to 100,000 is more likely because of the plurality of the word thousands, which in Arabic denotes amounts in excess. When the plague abated they returned the survivors thought if the pestilence returned they could do the same thing. The following year the plague happened again were nearly everyone fled the town and stayed in a open plain where they thought they would be safe. Allah dispatched two angels from the lower and upper side of a valley who shouted out from above and below "Mutoo ("Die"), and they all died. It was so many bodies a wall was built around them to prevent animals from devouring them. Decades later Prophet (Ezkiel) ra passed by them and supplicated and asked Allah to bring them back to life (notice a believer in resurrection will have firm belief in this without doubt) Allah accepted his supplication and commanded him to say, "O rotted bones, Allah commands you to come back together.' The bones of every body were brought together. Allah then commanded him to say, O bones ,Allah commands you to be covered with flesh, nerves and skin." There was according to Ibn Kathir a section of the Banu Israil during the Prophethood of Hizqil (ra) who did not believe in resurrection this also provided a lesson for them.Allah commanded the souls to return to the body also during this and they testified to his oneness of (Tawheed) Islamic Monotheism) God is worshipped alone by himself and all the Prophets singled him out in worship. According to Ibn Kathir the great scholar bringing them back to life also is a clear proof of physical resurrection which shall occur on the Day of Judgement. This is why Allah saids: Truly, Allah is full of bounty to mankind. but most men think not. Later on in our history there was a major plague in Syria during the time of the great Khalifah Umar bin Al-Khattab (ra) many of the great Sahabah died. Being all the Prophets are muslim this is why I use Islam. All of them singled out Allah in Worship Adam,Noah,Jonah,Dawud,Idris,Ibrahim,Ismael, Ishaq,Moses,Aaron,Jesus,Muhammad (peace be upon them all). See more
